Lets say you had $65k available and you were interested in purchasing a 24’ bay boat, what models would you be looking at? I told a buddy to start looking at PFs, Sportsmans and Black jacks or Blazers. Any other recommendations?
And when the hell did Tidewater boats become so damn expensive???

Does 65k even get you a new 24’ ft boat now?

Does your buddy need another buddy?
I think some higher hour Cayman 246 get in price range.

Fiberglass a must? I'd give Uncle J a hard look and have one built to your specs if aluminum was a option.

Has to be fiberglass. What are the thoughts on Sea Born boats?

Boat prices are outrageous, but look for a used Sea Hunt or Key West. Haven't ridden in either, but really like the lines on both boats. Sea Pro also makes a 24' bay.

related question,
does anyone have experience with the G3 bay series boats?

I was just throwing brands out there. Ive also told him to look at shear waters and everglades but I think those will be above his price range. These are used of course

Could probably get a bulls bay(old sea pro mold) 24 for that price

Might be able to get a blazer 2400 with basic rigging for that. Great hull. Maybe a used blackjack or pathfinder

add Skeeter and Nautic Star. I have 22’ NS and my buddy picked up a used Skeeter ZX24 w F250 about a year about for low $30’s. It’s a sweet ride, made realize how much lighter my hull is in chop. Would like to upgrade but had to justify it with current prices.

I’d look at Avenger. They make a 24 and a 26 that look like you can find used ones with a relatively good deal.

I Like my 24 pathfinder. Whatever hulls are considered, make sure access to maintenance items are easy. Also look at fit and finish of the wiring. Some manufacturers use marine heat shrink terminals and splices and some don’t. Some make it easy to pull new wire or add an accessory and some do not. They’re all great when new. It’s when you have to start fiddling with stuff you’ll learn real quick the manufacturers who put more thought into their design process. Unless your slinging lithiums you’ll either love or hate the boat builder when it’s time to change out or fool with the batteries.

If I were shopping, I'd join the FB owner's group for each of those you mentioned. He'll get a real picture of some of the issues with each one, and it's not a bad place to find some for sale also.
If I were him, my goal would be to find the boat that he thinks would be perfect for him, and then shop for it until he finds the right deal or saves a few more dollars to be able to afford it.
FWIW, I have a 2016 Bj 256 and it's not perfect, but I'd buy it all over again.
I've never ridden in one, but the PF is really nice too. I found the PF's to be slightly more "luxurious". I didn't have a female that I had to please, and decided the BJ would be a little easier to clean at the end of the day.

Sportsman 227 masters (22'4")
Tidewater 2300 Carolina Bay(23'8")
Sea pro 228 dlx bay(22"8')
All 3 are around 65k with a 200 motor
All 24ft versions of these boats are around 80k or more....
All three, I aggressively looked at to purchase and all are great boats with great add ons....Its obvious which one I chose. You may want to consider going 2/3 yrs old with low hours for a 24ft for 65k
Here are each online, all are equally beautiful!

For a Seaborn which are great boats but expensive and they have a new line also but your looking at min of 70k with no addons for a 24ft

I never looked at PFs simply because I just didn't but I heard they are a great boat.
If your looking for a solid 24ft boat under 65k and brand new ,the only thing I saw when I was shopping for my boat was a carolina skiff boat. I believe the name of this bay boat was called an ultra elite bay or ls bay. One of them was priced very good for alot of boat.. Check into them, carolina skiff also makes sea chaser and their Lx line are new and improved boat but prolly more expensive. Check into the ls carolina skiffs...its a big boat for less money.
Go to boat trader website and search boats. You'll get a feel for options and pricing. I'd go 21, 20,19 models...don't buy 2022.jmo

Good points on what you said.
I think he mentioned that New wasn't a requirement.
