A lot of us Old Guys still refer to them as the University of Southwest Louisiana...they will always be USL to me.

Screw Napier, he is not qualified to coach LSU.

More qualified than Kirby and Lincoln when they were given the reins at UGA and OU.

IDK, if he's the guy we should hire, but the more I look into his experience, character, how he's viewed in the coaching circles and his results the more I think he's a viable candidate.

I like Fickell, but I think we need an offensive mind at HC. I also like Matt Campbell. He's been able to accomplish more with less at Iowa St.

That's total bs. When's the last time Lafayette was top 5 ranked and defeated Notre Dame?

They beat a pretty good Iowa State team last year. Notre Dame is always pretty overrated.

One example is where he'll call for a squib letting the other team just fair catch at the 35, or calling for an onsides kick when there's no reason to do it. And the list goes on. Just saying, be careful white knighting for this guy. I'm not sure he's the right fit even if we strike out on our first 2-3 options.

He probably got that from when he coached under Kiffin.

If he wasn’t coaching at UL, he would probably be in the top 2 candidates tRant would want.

Hard to argue with that resume. He is ready to take over a major program. This might be perfect timing. I like the fact that he would come in and development a culture that produces wins. I don’t think it would be a bad choice at all.

I agree.

ND has beaten FSU by 3
Toledo by 3
Va Tech by 3

They beat Wisconsin handily, but they are struggling this year at 2-3.

ND will finish with a good record, but they have a very weak schedule this year.

Well said. But I know you know what I mean, it's hard to articulate it on paper but an avid CFB fan that understands the ebb n flow of a game will know Napier's shortcomings if they've watched him. I've seen him go for the jugular by calling a trick play and it stops the momentum and flow of the offense, then double down by trying to double or nothing with another surprise play. You can see the QB and OL looking over like coach we were rolling, what are you doing.

But what he's done at ULL is very impressive, so maybe he can lead us with even better players to coach, who knows. Just wish he could get rid of some of those bold "Kiffin" tendencies like you said.

Eh, I've seen Sean Payton do the same for years and years, and I'm damn glad he's the coach of the Saints.

Good post, OP. Learned a lot that I did not know. Appreciate it.

If he's hired, I'll certainly support. With good recruiting I think he could do well here.

The guy sounds impressive and qualified, based on his resume.

On the contrary, we'd probably not be talking about him much at all.

Jamey Chadwell has received far fewer votes than Napier in the running candidate thread, even though Coastal is currently undefeated, and he beat Napier in Lafayette last year.

Honestly, will be disappointed if he is not the head coach of the Tigahs next year. Guy is the BEST COACH available. Also, will not be looking to leave LSU for NFL after a few years.

Chadwell seems like a good coach. But Napier’s experience with top D1 programs, working under coaches like Saban and Dabo, qualify him infinitely more for the LSU job IMO.

Coastal is the highest level program Chadwell’s coached at. He’s been a head coach longer than Napier, but doesn’t have a terribly outstanding win-loss record. He’s ready to move up to a G5 program, but LSU? Not quite.

And the fact that he’s at ULL being the ONLY reason he’s being talked about for LSU doesn’t jibe with the interest shown to him by Miss St, Ole Miss, S Carolina and Auburn over the past few years.

The fact JC beat Napier last year is nice, but Les Miles beat Saban 3 or 4 times. Hell, Eddie O beat Saban, Smart, Riley, and Dabo in the same season!

Again, I’m sure JC is a good football coach, but IMO Napier is much more qualified across the board.

I don't disagree. I wasn't arguing in favor of Chadwell over Napier.

I just think some of the fanaticism for Napier on this board is due to him being at ULL. If he wasn't, I doubt he'd be a top-2 candidate, like that other poster said.

This dickhead keeps posting this pic trying to pass if off like it’s from Tuesday night. It’s not.

The SEZ has been bowled in since 2014. You can clearly see that it is still grass in your pic.

Plus the "Louisiana" under the PB has been in black since at least 2014. I'm sure there are lots of other clues, but those jumped out at me right away.

How sad your life must be to spend time in your life trying to find a pic that shows some low attendance just to rip on a school. A school you ‘don’t care’ about.

Trash.
