Glad you picked up on that :)

My pet peeve is how often “super” is used now for emphasis instead of “very”. Most of the time super or very is not really needed.

Many really smart people who I respect have adopted this into their vernacular and it’s baffling.
I think it becomes a "when in rome" type thing that happens without thinking about it.
Similar to when someone with a heavy accent moves away. Over time they start to talk more like the people they have been living around and their accent isn't as strong.
This isn't said as much anymore.. or at least I don't hear it, but these two used to drive me crazy because they were used so much "that's a whole different animal" and "Just like eating an elephant, you have to do it one bite at a time"

I’ve definitely noticed kids using the word “so” at the beginning of every statement. Glad someone else noticed this, too.

So, has anyone noticed the overuse of these words in their corporate work environment?
Then there’s the EXTREME overuse of “literally” in EVERY environment. Drives me nuts.

Any time someone gives me a "right" or a head shake in the yes direction i immediately start shaking my head no.
In a former life I was a car salesman and shaking the head yes is a way to get you to say yes, and i will not fall for it ever again.

All I hear is “let’s circle back”
“Just circling back”
Etc
“Just circling back”
Etc

I fricking hate hearing “I know right” and “Right!?!”

I like to stop the speaker immediately and confirm that whatever was “literally” whatever. It’s awkward and hilarious to me.

I was sick of hearing the word collab ( collaborate) and circle back at my old office. So glad I no longer work there.

My attractive therapist uses both words in our sessions together.

Right
A guy who just left my team used this at least 20-30 times in a 1 hour call. It was so annoying I eliminated the word all together from my call vocabulary except when giving literal directions.

Concerning “right”:
Actually, it is condescending, and they know it’s condescending.
OR, it’s someone who’s much in need of approval.
No in between.

I’ve eliminated “at the end of the day” from my vocabulary and replaced it with “ultimately”.
Never use six words when one works.

There is only one other phrase that gets me.
When asked how they are, replying with “Living my best life”
I just smile and say good but my inside voice says, “well no shite you stupid frick. You only get one life so by definition, it’s your best life.”
