Putting Ward back at safety was for games like State. I hope he is back there on Saturday. He will make a huge difference for the defense.

Looked like Burns was trying to be deep safety for cover 1, while the rest of the defense was in zone cover 2 deep.

It was really a 3 deep, quarter quarter half. The ESPN announcer even says it Youtube highlights (start at the 2 minute mark if it doesn't automatically go there).

Burns was supposed to have half on his side, and Lewis and Ricks have quarters to the field/ wide side.

Should've looked something like this

Stingley was better when he was a freshman! Hope he picks up his game.

Is that true? All i've heard was some post game pods and they stated it was Burns who had deep half and got caught looking in at "eye candy". They said Stingley had flats.

Weird timing considering he just had one of his best games I’ve seen him have. He’s actually had a very good season outside of 1 tackle, even though it was an important missed tackle

Not getting Jacoby Mathews is a fireable offence this year

Teams have only thrown at him 3 times this year and outside of 1 play against UCLA he’s tackled like a machine.

If Stingley this year is the worst player on our defense, we will have the greatest defense ever. I do not understand why people keep shitting on him. Because he’s not vocal like TM7 or PP7? That’s not who he is, and if he tried to be that the team would see the insincerity and recognize it as fake.

Stingley blew the coverage on the busted play, not Burns.

Stingley very clearly had the flats, given he was the only defender who covered with the receiver there. Burns was very clearly the player who blew the coverage on that play.

I really don’t get why members of our fanbase go out of their way to try and shite on Stingley.

Well our 2 best safeties by a good margin are Jay Ward and Sage Ryan

Ryan had not played a single down how can you make this statement?

The main difference if the "H" / TE lined up on the right side and ran straight. The weakside linebacker went right to cover the rb. Also pretty sure we only had two LB's.

Clearly signals got mixed up. Weird because Burns and Stingly seemed to be looking at each other before the snap.

Burns only mistake was indeed “eye candy”. You can see on the replay that he lost his WR awareness by looking into the backfield too long. He’s in good position. If he picks that guy up in his zone, there is nowhere to throw the ball on that play.

Burns is the safety version of Damone Clark. Insanely gifted, but biting and over-pursuing on almost everything.

Would like to see Sage play more if healthy.

Burns and Harris are both scary back there.

Hope the underclassmen impress the coaches enough to see the field soon & often. We will need their expected better play in the SEC.

Probably, but on 3rd and 13 you probably don't need Stingley to release the wr when you have a lb for the rb. The other safety had already picked up the TE.

I think Burns with Ward will be fine.

What they are missing is that 3rd box safety that is very important in 2021 football. Someone that can cover 15yds in, and play the run.

Could be Sage Ryan but we can’t really count on him. I’m sure sure he is quite built for that right now anyway.
