Nothing in life is more common than unrewarded potential. Every barroom in South Louisiana and every playground in the world is loaded with guys who “woulda, coulda, shoulda” been real players. Why they did not succeed is unimportant. Winners win and losers…

Be truthful. It’s because he is white isn’t it?
Goodness some people just refuse to believe that a white guy could be pretty good at a skill position lol

Did Gilbert ever make a one handed TD grab or even break a tackle?

Bech has heart and is tough as nails. Hustles every play . The other guy had none of this!

“Gilbert is far more talented than Bech. He is bigger, faster, and the same hands.”
This just isn’t true, he’s bigger and ran a 4.7 4.8 forty had more stars by his name out of high school, doesn’t mean he’s is or was gonna be better or has more talent…

Bech all day over Gilbert. Bech has that fire and drive you cannot teach.
Bech is a winner.
Bech is a winner.

Bech and it's not close.
Bech is polished in every way. He is a competitor first. He may not be the physical specimen as Gilbert but that is where it ends. He has the football "it" factor that coaches dream about.

You know there’s a whole bunch of truth in that statement that goes well beyond just football, and translates to the work world as well.
One of the absolute biggest intangibles we look for when hiring besides people sills, work experience, job specific skill sets, etc, is attitude. It’s actually tops on the list for prospective employees, and there’s a very good reason for that, because attitude and work ethic can make or break team cohesiveness, and it can also cause someone to be better than another with more skills in a job simply because they work hard to achieve and are rewarded in the end for their hard work with getting better, and with a positive workable attitude, and simply put, everyone can get along and work with them.
Bad work ethics, shitty or negative attitudes, and quitting will take someone with all the potential in the world and make them a terrible hire. I have to imagine it’s the exact same in football too.
This thread is kind of simplifying Gilbert's issues.
He's a 19-year old kid who has SEVERE psychological problems that aren't his fault. He's either bipolar or has a shizoid diagnosis (I forget which). He's not some lazy prima donna who is a locker room cancer just because.

Most people aren’t capable of or willing to address that issue with nuance, just easier for them to call the kid a quitter or “head case”.

All the transfers he was doing was not helping his situation...

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Bech is a nice story, but he’s going to get exposed in the SEC. Too small to block, too slow that he can be covered by safeties and LBs in the SEC.
He will do just fine in the SEC as long as we keep him matched up on LB's and safetys and not corners. Those RPO's are hard to defend and put him in open space/seams very well.

Easily.
Gilbert is uber talented, but off the field stuff will doom him.
Bech has it going on.

Bech = Jacob Hester... just a football player...

Can we stop with the Bech threads?

Gimme Bech any day of the week.
The kid is a hustler and a winner. I watched him throughout HS and he hustled every play whether the ball was coming his way or not. He was the best blocking receiver I've ever seen. He fielded punts, kick-offs, and played defense when they needed a big stop.
I'm friends with some of his old coaches and they said he could literally have played any position on the field.

I do not see this.
