Ed will finish the season because no one on the staff is capable of being an interim head coach.

Just because you keep repeating this doesn't make it true.

I likewise agree that firing a coach this soon after the NC would deter the pool of candidates for filling the job to a "high risk" group

You have no idea what you’re talking about

Midseason firings are classless

Ed O has never displayed anything close to having class over his entire coaching career. His coaching career is filled with neanderthal style, unclassly behavior including in the present tense. End of season firings are for coaches who have earned that right & not for coaches out in public acting like a buffoon or bringing bad publicity to the program.

O LOST TO frickING TROY!!!!! That was his mulligan.

He has been absolutely curb stomped by Saban and Alabama every year with the exception of 2019.

2016: 10-0
2017: 24-10
2018: 29-0
2019: 41-46
2020: 55-17
--------------
That's a combined total of 159 to 73 & the lone win was by a margin of only 5 points.

If you take out the 2019 game, that gives you a combined point total of 85-27.

We just played mcneese and had less total yards than we did against UCLA.

What do you not understand here?

Firing the coaches mid-season is the same reason fans leave at half time. win-at-all-cost mentality. instead of doing things that could affect games - send the band on road trips, for example - we cheap out and make it a reality show.

Keep the focus on the coach, how much smarter you are than him, how your team is a 'product' - and the game passes YOU by.

It's not hard to show a little sportsmanship.

Disagree with 3. Ed O's off the field behavior gives everyone context. The other candidates will see the pictures of Ed in bed and know of his idiotic challenge of a booster to a fight. They'll know that he didn't even interview his DC after that championship year and know by his actions that he was a guy who happened to be in the right place at the right time, a university who's last three coaches won NCs.

LSU will likely need to pay to get rid of O but it won't be the full amount. O will make it ugly, reinforcing to the coaching world that LSU is doing the right thing by getting rid of him immediately.

15-0

5-5

6-6

Those last two seasons are simply unacceptable. He would need to be fired before damage was really done

I think 9-3 with new years 6 bowl saves his job, but I doubt he makes it that far and I doubt he can pull off anywhere close to 9 wins.

Agreed. I don't understand why he gets a pass because of covid. Bama went undefeated and won a natty while dealing with the same crap.

He may finishing the season. But you are wrong on all three of your swing and misses.

#1 IX violations require extensive investigation to protect all 3 parties involved. Just like you don't hire someone without interviewing them and doing a background check.

#2 if your wrong on #1 you are automatically wrong on #2. The chance of O getting a dime is slim.

#3 Here where you are well, ridicules. How bad can LSU look under O? Fire quickly? "IF" it goes down as IX violations (and it probably will) there will be talk about why it took so long. LSU cannot look bad for terminating an employee that will cost them alot of money settling lawsuits.

So has every other coach in college football who has played Bama on a regular basis. This will be an unpopular statement, but LSU will never be a program that is on the level with Bama consistently. The reason for that exist far above who the coach or even the AD is. So, to me, you can't use the losses to Bama as a justification for termination when everyone else is losing to them as well.

Ed will only finish the year if LSU has 3 or fewer losses heading into the season finale. People who matter are done. Barring a significant turnaround on the field, it’s over.

The off the field behavior, the failed hires, the apparent lack of investment in preparation during the offseason, just lots of really really bad optics and he’s made it very easy to look at that with the way his team has performed. He has no more opportunities to retool his staff. It’s his program and the results are his. He will not have another offseason to blame anyone else.

This is it. Win or gtfo

That's the approach many take, hire a coach that will not be considered for the Head coaching job.

Only if Title IX goes away, and it won't. Many sources say they have him lying when questioned on the investigation.

He won't see a dime if this becomes proven.
