VDH says most Americans get the measles vaccine as kids, and that has lifetime immunity.
Now that is a vaccine

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if we (as a country who gets the MMR as kids) can’t get the measles, this is not a big deal at all, right?

It’s not unless your an anti Vaxxer.

Depends. Some say the vaccine is not a lifetime vaccine but yes hardly anyone is dying from it here anymore. 2019 was a spike, though.
I would say it's still a very big deal that we took in 60K people that all claimed to be interpreters (they weren't) without verification of what sort of diseases they were carrying.
What is a bigger deal is there have been reports of Tuberculosis coming in at the Southern border
quote:
2000 – 86 cases – 1 measles death (infant) – endemic spread of measles eliminated in U.S.
2001 – 116 cases – 1 measles death
2002 – 44 cases
2003 – 55 cases – 1 measles death (1 year old)
2004 – 37 cases – record low number of measles cases
2005 – 66 cases – 1 measles death (1 year old)
2006 – 55 cases
2007 – 43 cases
2008 – 140 cases
2009 – 71 cases – 2 measles deaths
2010 – 63 cases – 2 measles deaths
2011 – 220 cases
2012 – 55 cases – 2 measles deaths
2013 – 187 cases (large outbreak in New York City – 58 cases)
2014 – 667 cases (the worst year for measles since 1994, including the largest single outbreak since the endemic spread of measles was eliminated – 377 cases in Ohio)
2015 – 188 cases – got off to a strong start with a big outbreak in California – 1 measles death
2016 – 86 cases
2017 – 120 cases
2018 – 375
2019 – 1,282 cases – 1 measles death (the worst year for measles since 1992, including the longest and largest single outbreaks since the endemic spread of measles was eliminated)
2020 – 13 cases
I would say it's still a very big deal that we took in 60K people that all claimed to be interpreters (they weren't) without verification of what sort of diseases they were carrying.

vaccines aren't magic. a vaccinated kid can still get the measles. its less likely to occur and less likely to be as severe if it does.

Except for individuals who either can’t get vaccinated or who have compromised immune systems.
Or pockets of misguided Americans who don’t vaccinate their kids for anything.

Sniffer really cluster f’d this.
How many Americans did he leave behind while bringing them in?
If we didn’t have time to check medical records how many of the 50,000 did we vet to make sure they aren’t Taliban or Al-Qaida.

I had to get tested for all my vaccine responses back in 2019, and my MMR needed a booster. It would have been about 30+ years since I received the vaccine.

Why do you put refugees in quotes? Aren't these people the absolute definition of a refugee?

How is that big news….there is always TB coming into the US, not shocking at all. It’s why healthcare workers in TB prone areas usually get blood work drawn (or a PPD skin test) every year for annual requirements by their employer.

Have you seen this board lately? They don’t give two shits about those folks. They will just say those folks should stay home all the time if they are that scared.

Uh, there are illegal immigrants, who shouldn’t be here, brining in a deadly disease, that could affect people who do belong here. Pretty news worthy.

And I’m telling you that TB has been coming into our country for ages now from areas where it is endemic. From refugees that were properly processed and those that come over illegally.
That is nothing new at all.
That is nothing new at all.

At no time has there been such an unmitigated stream of illegal immigrants flooding our southern border, brining God knows what across with them. Is it your argument that since it happened some before that it is no big deal?

I’m saying y’all act like TB just got here. Again….if you live in border states you likely have been potentially exposed to someone with TB at some point. Now whether you actually serocoverted is a whole other story.

And now if you live in a border state you are at a much higher risk of contacting it (and Covid and whatever else). Good talk

You get the MMR vaccine at 12 months so anyone younger is at risk

Not all of them. We took in 60K of them when in reality only like 5000-7500 would have qualified. Many did not help the USA and were not in danger of Taliban repercussions.
