happened at Ole Miss in 2016. Jordan Wilkins missed that entire season because of a very similar circumstance. It is inexcusable but not implausible.

Totally normal. Everything is fine.

By making his classes too hard?

They are exploring legal actions in order to get the kid cleared to play

I would guess they’re hiring one of those attorneys that specializes in battling the NCAA, not coming after the school.
But could be wrong
But could be wrong

It’s very obvious that LSU/Ed O are incapable of running the football program.
It’s falling apart before our very eyes. Joe Biden would be proud of how fast the wheels have come off…

If the rumors are true that someone at LSU had Emery sign up for the wrong class
That “happens” to students all the time.

It is college. You can take whatever class you want. This makes no sense to me, unless he dropped it and it made him drop below the full time student limit.
You have to have certain total credit hours and be making progress towards a degree. For instance, you can't just load up your schedule with 1 hour PE classes or freshman courses every semester and remain eligible just because you have enough hours. The rules are black and white and very easy to follow, and someone dropped the ball big time for this to happen.

The only way I can see this being true is if it was a total hours thing and he took a 1 hour credit needing 3. And math is racist so we shouldnt expect anyone to know the difference between 16 hours and 18 hours.

Do you even have some sort of link or are we just saying stuff now

This make more sense. LSU probably flipping the bill for attorney fees.

Let's just say stuff until we get a link. It's more fun that way.

Can you imagine the ramifications of this to recruits?
“Don’t go to LSU!! They can’t even get you enrolled in class.. come to x we’ll take care of EVERYTHING.. you just have to show up (sometimes)”

If you are so dim-witted that you can't follow your own degree plan you really don't deserve to have the opportunity to have a free education. I don't care how fast you can run.

TBF, I had an advisor when I was in school tell me I needed a class I 100% did not need. I also had another tell me I was all good on my major coursework, only to find out I took a class that didn't actually count as I needed another course in a subset of that major instead. It resulted in me having to take an upper level course in the summer after I walked. Advisors screw up plenty. They shouldn't with such simple things like this but they do.

Why don't you believe this is plausible? If a player/student is not making progress toward a degree program by taking classes that do not count toward that degree and falls under the required 12 hours then he becomes ineligible. Pretty cut and dry.

it's not just 12 hours. To remain eligible, you have to be 40% of the way towards your degree entering your 3rd year, 60% before your 4th year, and 80% before your fifth year. If Emery took a class that resulted in him being less than 40% of the way to his degree, then he's ineligible. And it's certainly possible that he took a course that he passed but didn't bring himself closer to what he needed to get to 40%.
for reference, it's NCAA Bylaw 14.4.3.2
