Hitting the big 40 very soon and want to go somewhere nice with the wife. Havent been to either of these and both have been on my list. How are both with current state of affairs? Currently leaning toward Gautreau's. preference of the FB frequenters?

Gautreaus. Not even close. Closest you should get to Antoines is the Hermès Bar

Gautreau’s. This isn’t a question.

For good pre/post dinner drinks in a cool spot in the FQ, Hermes Bar at Antoine's is awesome. For an actual dinner, Gautreau's 100% of the time.

I will add that Antoine's is a blast with a large group in one of their private rooms. I recently went to a 40th birthday party there with 30 or so people. It was great. But Gautreau's unquestionably wins for a smaller, more intimate dinner.

In all the world there is only one Antoines

If these are the only options then Gautreau’s
Personally, I would prefer Brigtsen’s or Clancy’s

Gautreau's.
Antoine's has been in decline for a while and the food, while never the best is New Orleans, is way down.
