Speaking of places to move/retire, somebody talk to me about Loveland/Fort Collins, CO.

Real estate is cheaper than Denver, and you're still an hour or less to the mountains and to the airport.
I drove through there a couple years ago and it reminded me of suburbia run amuck, but man, I think I could actually go for some calm, quiet arse suburbia.

Loveland is gorgeous. Great skiing…but it’s been about 20 years

Fort Collins isn't really suburbia, although I'm sure some people make that commute. It's more of a college town with a pretty cool downtown area and a lot of good breweries.

Two of my former bosses both retired in Ft Collins. They both love it. Admittedly one is from Colorado and the other was raised in Alaska so their tolerance for cold is probably more than most.

Fort Collins is super cool, but also insanely hipster. Loveland is nice, smaller city/town.

We visited home last month and had to stay in Fort Collins.
Seems like a pretty unique place. The downtown is bonkers. People riding those hoverboards in the middle of the road, this one girl ran out with her toddler in the middle of the road to stop a car, nobody using crosswalks, people running red lights.
It was craaazy.
Seems cool, though. Just too many people in the Denver metro for me. Fort Collins was a bit more subdued, but I know I'd eventually need to go to Denver for something, and that traffic is killer.

Fort Collins is awesome. I'd rather live there than Denver.

If I'm moving to Colorado it's someplace like Durango.

You are a decade out from retirement correct? If so look outside FC and maybe even Loveland as they will likely grow between now and then, that is if you want quiet.

I have a couple buddies that moved to Fort Collins after high school. a big factor was for recreational marijuana. 6 years later: three of them are hooked on drugs, one moved back to LA and is doing very well, and the other 2 are doing well in CO and making a living

my wife is from there. my FIL still lives there. love to visit when we can. offered to move their myself, but the wife doesn't want to go back unless it is to visit her dad.
nice college town, close to Denver, Estes Park, Golden and Cheyenne. has most everything you could possibly want in a smaller town

Been to both. Ft.Collins is a great college town w/a cool downtown and a lot of dispensaries.
Loveland is really nice. Far enough away from Downtown Denver and still close enough to have everything.
Laramie/and the Snowies(Heaven on Earth) are an hour and a half drive away to the North.

Not much cheaper than Denver. But, there is more space to build up there. I do think it's nice up there.
Check out Berthoud and Windsor too.

Had family that lived in Loveland about 10 years ago. Place was awesome to visit. 45 or so miles away from a Buddhist temple we visited on the trip. Had an awesome time.

Pretty sizable homeless community in Fort Collins. Nothing like Denver but then again it is a fraction of the size.

My oldest brother lived in Loveland for 45 years. It's a beautiful place but like everything else they touch Californians will do it in. He hates yuppies with everything in him. Ended up selling his house and moved to south Florida two years ago.

Probably a weird observation, but I noticed the convenience stores didn’t look like convenience stores. They were really nice, well-landscaped and oddly had curb appeal. Very clean city.
