Colorado High School Students Stage Walkout To Protest Mask Mandate

Students and parents all over Douglas County, Colorado took to the streets Wednesday morning to protest a countywide school mask mandate.

The organized walkout reportedly occurred around 9:30 a.m., just two days after the county's health department issued a mask order requiring all staff and students from preschool to 12th grade to wear masks (via The Denver Channel).

Some of the loudest voices were heard at Thunder Ridge High School.

"These people agree with me. They hate masks, and I do too," said Thunder Ridge student Cole Bradley of the students behind him.

"I believe that masks, they’ve been going from mostly two years now, this is going to be the third year of my high school career that’s compromised. I want a normal high school career there. If you are scared you could stay home," said student Austin Knapp.

Thunder Ridge High School students were joined by Ranch View Middle School students and their parents.

"There’s enough parents, and there’s enough scientific data to show otherwise, that this is just not a necessary option that they have to take, and there are enough students that feel the same way," said parent Amy Ellis.

Around the same time, students at Legend High School took to the streets.

Colorado Community Media reporter Jessica Gibbs posted several videos and pictures of the protests to Twitter:

CNN will follow up in the next few days and let the entire world know if any of these mask protesters catch the Covid.

That part of Colorado (Denver burbs) isn’t exactly a conservative bastion. Swing voters are tiring of the Covid storyline as well. Dims beware.

Good for those kids.

I believe a lot of districts (mostly rural) in Louisiana, during this time of JBE's bullshite mandates, are saying they have a mask requirement and just not enforcing it.

I've looked for info to see if JBE extended the mask "mandate" ending yesterday. I can't find anything. Someone on the OT said he extended it but I've ready several news articles and went to the governor's website, which is a fascinating look at propaganda, and cannot find if he extended it. Does anyone know if he extended it?

Good for those Kids! Awesome to see them standing up for their Civil Liberty's.

This from The University of Louisville

Study finds mask mandates have no substantial effect on slowing COVID-19 spread

quote:

"It appears that mandates and typical mask use among the public have no substantial impact on COVID-19 growth," Guerra said. "Early in the pandemic (Summer 2020), there was an association between lower infection rates and mask mandates and use. However, this association disappeared when transmission levels rose despite increased mask use in the Fall and Winter.

"While growth rates did decline in states after mask mandates became effective, rates declined to a similar degree in states without mandates," he added.

Good, but not the way I would have organized it. Instead of the walkout have each student who is involved in the protest simply go to 1st period class with no mask.
When told to put a mask on, each one simply say: 'Make me.'

Then the school discipline guy would have to deal 100s of kids. It would be chaos and funny as hell.
