We lost our Internet and Uverse service here in Houston 2 days ago and someone on their customer service team tried to say it was because of issues related to Ida.

You ought to try and use ATT out west in remote areas (Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, etc).

Once you get away from the interstate your ATT cell phone might as well be a brick.

Verizon seems to work well in even the smallest towns out West.

I switched to Verizon about 4 years ago and the service has been astronomically better, at least in the BR area.

At some point it becomes comical that AT&T is still having issues. And I’m not just talking about during disasters. My work phone is AT&T and the service drops out fairly often. If they couldn’t get uniform 4G coverage in BR by now, how can anyone expect that they ever will? They’re already rolling out 5G and the 4G coverage is still spotty.

Not sure if I will switch from ATT bc I had customer service issues with Verizon in the past, but it’s not like you have a choice about kicking Entergy to the curb

During the storm I was able to talk to my family in Cut Off until Monday morning. They’re on Verizon. ATT was useless during the storm.

But now ATT has been back up and running and Verizon is useless down there. Luckily one of them has ATT so they’ve been the main point of contact the last couple of days.

If people from the BR area had ATT in 16 and somehow continue to have them in 2021 then I have zero sympathy

I have AT&T. We stayed at my SIL's the night go of the storm and rode it out because she does not have many trees around her house. Turned out to be a good decision. Nevertheless, my family with AT&T service lost coverage during and after the storm. My SIL with Verizon never lost coverage.

My buddy switched to Verizon after the flood. Their system is so overloaded right now he can't even send/receive images. AT&T is definitely gonna take it on the chin this go round though

We’ll be switching back to Verizon from ATT cellular before long but I will say that ATT fiber has be on point since we lost power. Hooked up the generator and plugged in the modem Monday morning, among other things, and the kids have been entertained all day since the power went out.

I understand with the hurricane cell service is critical. Having cell service in emergencies is a priority. But...I had to dump Verizon when we moved to the lake. Lake Claiborne has always had poor cell service until AT&T put in a new tower. Their service is excellent now and we have AT&T fixed wireless internet too. Almost DSL speeds with a WiFi router for $50 a month for 350 gig.

It just depends on you area as to who is better.
