Watching some of their clips, they look like out of shape rednecks who couldn't have hacked it today.

Cos Michael Hayes first invented and popularized the Dog the Bounty Hunter look.

I didn't care much for the Freebirds but Michael PS Hayes was a pretty good persona.

Jim Cornette said that the crowds hated the physically big heels but the more average looking heels drove them absolutely crazy because the fans thought they could possibly beat them in a real fight. Midnight Express is an example compared to the big guys like Ernie Ladd, etc.

Their feud with the Von Erichs is one of the best in wrestling history.

Three good ol' boys who only cared about partying, rock and roll, and fighting? I have no idea how they were popular in southern wrestling territories.

They were hated for “blinding” the Junk Yard Dog with the hair cream in the Superdome. A fan in Nola was waiting for them with a pistol to settle the score. Not much has changed in Nola during the last 40+ years.

Loved when he would do commentary with Jim Ross in the UWF and would always call him 'Spanky'

Terry Bam Bam Gordy was one of the best in ring performers of all times, especially for his size.

Michael Hayes is one the best heels of all time and had elite mic skills.

Buddy Roberts was the perfect guy to take the bumps and lose the match.

All of that combined made for a tremendous heel tag team faction in the territories. From blinding Junk Yard Dog to the world famous battles with the Von Erichs these boys knew how to get heat and put butts in seats.
