I need you to get about a gallon of hot sauce and sandpaper. I don't know if they grade the sandpaper, but coarse.

Look princess, it’s not near as bad as the sensationalism of the news portrays. Is there a chance? Yes absolutely but it’s a small chance. Now knock on wood as I hate to jinx us but there’s a reason all of us Nola and south Louisiana people started having hurricane parties decades ago. They would fear monger and say absolute destruction is eminent and it would go left or right so we’d get a free few days from school or work and have a great time with a nice breezes and somewhat cooler weather than is normal for our area this time of year.
Could it hang west and unfortunately screw our westerly Louisiana brothers more? Yes. Could it hook east like my golf drive? Yes at a less of a chance since I slice 90% of the time.
Point is we’re in a good spot.
That’s all I got, unfortunately the buzz is wearing off before I finished my thought and I forgot. Don’t panic and be a man.

That's very scientific.

I thought intermediate they update the wind speed. Seems like a good sign if they didn’t. Also according to the zoom earth site, the center is now west of the forecast track.

I’m surprised we haven’t gotten passed 105mph today. I honestly thought we would see it get to 120-130mph today.

That’s a good thing that it hasn’t, of course.

Can someone explain storm surge to me. They keep giving storm surge numbers for New Orleans. If you’re in the levee, there can’t be storm surge unless all that water goes over the levee and completely floods the city right? If you have 15ft if storm surge in the levee system, wouldn’t you need at least 15ft if water inside it for it to happen?

I’m in Prairieville as well and staying. Close to Prairieville middle school. I rode out Gustav here too. Would like to have a little more gas for the generator that I currently have but will figure it out if it is a lengthy outage

It baffles me how my mother-in-law misinterprets information from the Weather Channel. I tried to talk her into going with us to our condo at Orange Beach early this morning since I expect at least a few days without power in Baton Rouge. Of course that was a no go, so we are stuck here. She was convinced that was a terrible idea because she said she saw on the Weather Channel that the hurricane is going to hit Birmingham.

I kept telling her that she will have no power, but she said the neighbors have a generator and said she can plug into it. Trying to explain she can't just plug her air conditioner into their generator seems to be a waste of time. She just sent a text relieved we didn't take her to Orange Beach because according to what she just heard on the Weather Channel or CNN, the hurricane is now turned and going to Alabama.

I'm not surprised she didn't vote for the guy that has mean tweets.
