Remember Biafra and the Igbo tribe?
Remember all the folks we knew who went to work for Shell in Africa because the salaries were so high and there was so little to do that they could accumulate enough money to retire early?

Imo state police spokesman Michael Abatan told AFP news agency on Wednesday that gunmen opened fire on a convoy of buses heading to a Shell gas plant in the area.
“We lost one policeman and six oil workers in the attack by the gunmen,” he said.

Are you really dunking on people who chose a riskier career path than you over a terrorist attack targeting a similar group of men?

True story, my uncle worked in Nigeria for Shell as an enigineer for over 30 years. He retired 10 years ago, but the stories we heard from his time there would make anyone squirm.

They left behind a bank account that needs to be moved out of Nigeria due to political instability.

I did my year in Angola. Shithole but I hear it’s one of the better shitholes.

More benefits from Sleepy Joe and cocksucker Kamala. I’d expect we’ll see a significant uptick in attacks on US citizens and assets as America continues to project weakness and makes itself a target.
But hey, No more mean tweets or hurt feelings.

Could just as easily happen in New Orleans which is why Shell bailed on the city.

I know some baws that spent plenty of time in the Nigeria oilfield. Im surprised this doesn't happen way more often
Theyd have to give me a real nice bump in pay to go deal with that shite. I just got back from working in south america. Much nicer down there

Shell got blamed and had to pay lots in damages for flooding that delta with crude oil. The fact is that the local natives were tapping into the pipelines to steal oil and didn't give one shiite about any leaking.

A now deceased friend's sister and brother in law were there 20 years ago when he was head of Halliburton there. They could not leave the country at that same time or else they pets would end up on someone's dinner table.

I was there in '04 through '05. For Shell in fact. Worked on finishing the Bonga for them. Landing in Legos for the first time is quite the experience. We were hustled through customs and security to vans with curtains on the windows and strict instructions to NOT open the curtains. Two cop cars in front, two in back. Took a 45 minute ride through Legos to the Eko Hotel. Stayed the night then flew out of Snake Island the next morning to the FPSO for a 6 week hitch. Finished that gig and said never again for Nigeria.
RIP men.
RIP men.
