More kids died of flu in 2018 than all of COVID. Flu deaths down from 5k/month to 30-ish.

Just saw some Sunday Fox weekly broadcast with Chris Wallace and it was nothing but manipulative presentations.

Dude brought some Dr. Francis Collins on who he tossed agenda softballs to for him to state super spins.

~”COVID is a serious issues for children, people think that children aren’t affected but with this new Delta Variant over 400 children have died”

Fact: From CDC data, only 354 people under 18 have directly died during the entire pandemic from Covid. (18 months) 188 died from the regular flu, which is a bit strange because data from 2018 shows that 477 died from the flu in one year.

Then what’s also strange is that NO ONE is dying of the regular flu.

In 2018, before all things COVID-19, 61,000 people died of the flu in the US. A little more than 5k/month.

Now instead of 5k/month….the CDC is reporting 24 deaths, 32, 34…just a couple dozen per month.

If we are having COVID deaths in the 7k range, then COVID (with its 1.4M cases in July) is just a net difference of 2-3k/month in deaths.

I know an extra 2-3k deaths isn’t something to be okay with, but why does it mandate a complete existence change? At 5k a month we are having Tinder orgies and wife swaps at all you can eat buffets, but at 7k we are Vacuum sealed in bubble wrap? Why the sudden need to be Germaphobes?

Get over the BS

They say they're basing all of their decisions on hospitalization numbers. If 5k people have it yet there are plenty of beds, open it up. As soon as the beds get full or close to full, they clamp down. Biggest issue is that they're not watching trends and everything is completely reactionary

I wonder how many of those deaths could have been shaved off with 65 and up being vaccinated for pneumonia.

I think, since COVID is reimbursed, that anyone who comes in may be admitted for observation to make sure that they don’t get worse. Hospital benefits to bring in Gov subsidized patients.

Normal flu, they just give you a Rx and tell you to kick bricks, but with COVID “he needs a bed”

CDC estimated 61k flu deaths in 2017-18 season, 34k in 2018-19, and 22k in 2019-20.

That number isnt unusual either. For example, the 2015-16 season had 22k deaths.

So where are you getting no one dying of flu? Making it up?

Lol. It changes. Constantly. Even in the same press conference.

They’ll complain about cases in young people and how it’s 23% of the total cases (18-29 yo)… but it’s always been at 23%

They’ll complain about the children cases… but ignore how no one that age is more likely to be hospitalized or die.

They’ll complain about it getting back into nursing homes… but only 5 people in nursing homes died last week of covid. Which I guarantee isn’t even in the top 10 causes of death in nursing homes

They’ll complain about hospitals being stretched too thin… but when you look at the numbers, there are plenty of beds

They’ll complain about staffing hospitals… but then mandate vaccines and fire people who are willing to work

This has been known. Under 30 covid with no vaccine is less deadly than Flu with a vaccine. 30-50 covid with no vaccine is equally deadly as the flu with a vaccine. Over 50 covid is exponentially more deadly than the flu.

Covid with the vaccine is less deadly than the flu with the vaccine across all ages.

From the table I posted from the CDC website. Less than 100 in last 3+ months, when if it were the average from 2018 would be closer to 15,000.

My fault, I said “no one” and you took it literally versus comparatively. I thought it would be obvious, apologies for not adding “comparatively”.

800 kids drown every year. Why aren't we forcing pools to be filled in? No more baths for kids, showers only! Where's the US government! If it saves one life!

200 kids choke to death every year. Why aren't we forcing kids to eat a liquid diet and ban all toys that could fit in a child's mouth. Schools should be putting all the food in blenders for the kids to eat! Where's the US government! If it saves one life!

The delta version is terrible. I know two people die the past week from it. Within 72 hours of symptoms, they died alone in a hospital room. If you are plus 180#, be careful out there.

Wait, you're comparing the number of influenza deaths of 18 and under for the 2020-21 season to the influenza deaths of all ages in the 2018 season? Because that's where your 5k a month would come from. Not 1-18.

But these are the kinds of posts which provide comic relief to people with a higher than double digit IQ every day.

Get vaccinated and you won't die from covid unless you are over 80, are a transplant recipient, have advanced AIDs or have some rare autoimmune disease. These people are at risk from any common cold.

Take a breath with your mouth closed. No.

There are two subjects being discussed:
1. Under 18 COVID to flu deaths.
2. Old flu to new flu deaths.

As posted earlier, in 2018 ALL flu deaths were 61k or a little over 5k/month (US).

As you may be able to see, ALL FLU DEATHS (old flu) is only being reported as about 30 per month the last few months. (Second to last column)

All Old flu vs COVID.

Why do you find it strange that flu deaths are down? Do you think automobile deaths would be lower if everybody drove less? Obviously, right? Well, we kept kids out of school for the year, so the flu could not circulate much. What worked on covid also worked on the flu. Obvious!
