I loved hank jr in the 70s and 80s. I saw him live 3 times back then.

A legend. Countless great songs. Can't go fishing without listening to some Bocephus.

Saw him at the Houston Rodeo early ‘90s. Lynyrd Skynyrd opened. Jr was completely fricked up and broke into Cat Scratch Fever in the middle of one of his songs. He was awesome. I really like him.

Never saw him but wish I had. His father is the GOAT. Sr. pushed boundaries, and even though Jr.'s music sounded a little different, he pushed boundaries too.

He had SO many great songs, easily in the same conversation as outlaws Waylon and Willie. Jr.'s music attracted a wide audience and was somewhere between southern rock and country, which is a line from a later Travis Tritt song. In fact, Tritt's music must have been heavily influenced by Jr.

He's a legend and a baw!

He has some good songs.. though, as the years pass, I cant say I really have any desire to hear them again..

they were done to death in my youth..

I'm a much bigger fan of his father. Hank Sr. was a brilliant lyricist.

That said, I have an appreciation/admiration for Jr. carving out his own distinct career in the massive shadow of Sr.

Waylon Jennings said Jr. wrote just as many great songs as Sr., and as for singing, "he made his Daddy sound like a sharecropper". Take it FWIW.

I saw Hank Jr. at the Monroe Civic Center in ‘81/‘82 thereabouts. Bocephus rocked out. He did a ZZ Top medley along with his hits up to that point. He played a white Les Paul Custom through a Marshall stack. It was kinda close to a country show. Fun night.

On Waylon's "Are You Sure Hank Done it This Way" there are a couple of spots where someone in the background says "Nah" or the like. It sounds like Junior to me.

Anyone know if that is Hank Jr.'s voice in the background?

Huge Hank fan here. There was no better live show in the mid 80s thru mid 2000s than Bocephus. The amount of gold and platinum albums he has - and he was putting out an new album every 10 months or so for a while and something like 21 straight went G or P. So many great studio cuts that were never singles - OD'd in Denver, Pressure is On, Mr Weatherman, Nashville Scene - I could go on and on. Definitely a baws baw!
