Go-To sites for fishing reports

Back in the day I'd cruise rod-n-reel but I just noticed it's all but gone now. Does anyone have a free site to cruise for fishing reports?

Facebook groups and here. Problem is that 99% of the people just want to cruise reports looking for an easy catch. People don't want to actually give back and provide any information.

When I lived in south Alabama I would listen to a podcast called Alabama saltwater fishing report that came out every Thursday. It was usually spot on and helped me figure the fish out down there faster. It’s part of a network I believe that covers several states and freshwater I believe. Might want to see if where you are fishing is covered.

In GA, use forum.gon.com or you can go to the main Georgia Outdoor News website for monthly guide reports on every GA reservoir and many saltwater areas in GA.

Yep. Go post a fake report for a location on the Internet and see what happens in the next couple days.

That's exactly why most fishing pages I'm on is a strict no river names. Posts/comments get whacked for doing so. Repeat offenders get banned.

Right, I assume some of the reports on FB are fake so you have to be careful. A fake report will benefit certain marinas, or guides for sure.

dude honestly you are better off going to where you normally fish and figuring them out. those facebook groups are littered with people trying to get an easy catch and other people showing their catch from 2 weeks ago.
and if its a true report there will be 4000 boats in the spot the next day.
just go fishing and have fun trying to figure it out, way more rewarding anyway

Yeah I try to do this. Been trying to incorporate more and factors into decision on where, when, and how to fish. Lunar phase, bait hatches/stages/area, certain structure keys, etc... Little by little it comes together. I'd prefer to get away from the crowd anyway when possible.

not that im the best trout fisherman in the world, but I'd call myself above average. to me it comes down to putting as many positives as you can in your favor. especially a guy like me that cant fish everyday.
every little factor matters.
but the bottom line is you need clean, moving water and you need to find bait fish.
if you do that the trout/reds arent far

Shell Beach, Hopedale, GI, and Delacroix. All trout & redfish

I can help you with Hopedale, Start in Bay Eloi, Black Bay or the long rocks and fish east until you catch some. I know that’s a very large area but it will eliminate a ton. Fish oyster reefs, rigs, birds or rocks. The fish are definitely still out. Lake borgne had a big algae bloom last week but you can probably catch reds on the rocks and cuts.

I post in a few FB groups. I post everything needed to help someone help themselves. What I fished with, when I fished it, how the water looked, etc. etc. My box is full of people asking for "spots" on FB. People want to go catching and have no interest in fishing. One thing I don't post is the location, I post the launch and if I fished inside or outside, but I am not putting a location up because I would like to be able to go fish that again. I avoid local "honey holes", if they are on at the "honey hole" they are on at the other 100 spots with similar conditions in the area.
I think the best best is to look back at reports from previous years, you can sort this easily on FB. Guides go fish average days 5 days a week and only post when they get a limit or need a booking...

That’s what I look for in a report. I just want to make sure the water isn’t chocolate milk before I make the trek to saltwater.

This, I use them to decide between areas and for a general sense of where fish are - that isn't always a question. once they've transitioned for a season, or started to, I know where they are until they start going back in or out.
Louisiana Troutmen and Hopedale Fisheries are the two FB groups I follow. But there is a lot of dumb BS on there.

Lots of solid advice in this thread.
I read the FB fishing groups as well, LAFB Inshore, Rigolets Fishing Group, LA Troutmen and Hopedale Fisheries. Not looking for spots but general areas, a good clue to where relatively clean water is located.
Don Dubuc WWL radio Saturday morning 0500 rotates through a group of "field reporters" from Shell Beach to the Rigolets to GI and Buras. All helpful, the show is archived on WWL's web site later if you miss it live.
Robby Campo at Shell Beach, Pat at Hopedale Marina and Jack at Sweetwater Delacroix will never steer you wrong. Not for spots but general areas.
Chas Champagne Rigolets, Todd Masson and Devin Denman fishing everywhere, and Tommy Vidrine in GI are good YouTube channels. Masson and Denman show where they launch, Denman gives more detail. Jon Miller is another good one.
Some years ago a man from Lafitte purposely FB posted bogus spots and joked about it somewhere else online. Busted, haven't seen him since but that's a lesson.
As I tell one of my buds who wants to fish spot reports, even when you have a good one, that was yesterday. Today is different. Skunk reports are valuable. Ignore FB guide reports they're just advertising.
Use NOAA Tide and Windy forecasts and then MODIS (when clouds allow) to find clean water, and select five or ten spots in an area. From there the basics are the same: give each 15 minutes and if nothing biting move on. If I see a rip coming off a point with bait jumping, I'm stopping. Those sort of obvious things.
Dad first took us into Lake Pontchartrain in the mid 60's, over the years we fished Lafitte, Shell Beach, Delacroix, Empire / Venice and Cocodrie. Specks were plentiful reds too. Still are though not the numbers, and harder to find on any given day. Takes more pre-planning work. Do the work you'll find the fish.
I'm retired can fish any day and enjoy the hunt. At my age, I get far greater pleasure seeing younger folks catch than myself.
Tight Lines.
