I usually disagree with the traditions of the middle east, but they have this type of thing figured out.
Steal something and they cut off your hand. I would recommend using whatever tool they used to cut off the cat. Probably a angle grinder or reciprocating saw .

And the cops wont do shite for you
But god forbid you attended that peaceful protest on Jan 6
Dopeheads & car thieves who steal converters are smart enough to avoid being on camera when they break the law unlike your idiot Jan. 6 rioters.

Replace it with a section of pipe, and order yourself some o2 simulators. Your ecm will never know the cat is missing, and the repair would be less then 200.00.

I thought you were a defunding leftist cause you don't want the cops to arrest thieves.

Then you confirmed it.

Electric vehicles will eventually solve this problem.
What the frick do you think the batteries in those electric cars are made out of, cotton candy?
Thieves will just start stealing batteries instead of cats.
frick off libtard.

Thankfully no OT baw owns a Prius.
A lot of folks here call the Honda Ridgeline a truck, so it wouldn't surprise me if we have some Prius owners. They'd buy a Prius with a bed option if they made it.

Figured I'd update y'all on this little misadventure:
I haven't gotten into the parts list yet, but I think that having 4WD kept them from getting more of my exhaust components. Picture below is potato quality but shows the cut pipe--it was only about an 18" piece that they took--everything else remains intact.
a-hole SOBs nicked the fuel line while cutting off the converter, and they stole my iced-down cooler from the truck bed. Also, I left three 6-packs of Dr. Pepper in the truck bed--of course, they took those. Wife would probably take their side on that.
Comprehensive insurance is covering it. No final tally on the total damage, but I'm anticipating north of $5K, maybe more depending on how far into the fuel system they went. Still working on surveillance footage, though I doubt it leads to anything substantive.

OT could probably fix the problem quicker than the cops.
Set up a bait tundra, wait
Pop pop. (This is obviously the sound of the popcorn popping while we wait)
Dump in NBR.

There are a whole bunch of crimes that if we imposed an automatic death penalty by burning alive, they would stop and never be a problem again (to hell with cruel and unusual punishment). Shut them in a concrete room. Throw in a gallon of gas and light her up. Sort of like death by wet Napalm.
They could call it "elimination from the genepool".

I'll quietly enjoy my fantasies of rigging up a bait truck or otherwise inflicting pain on these assholes, but I know, at day's end, they'll eventually cause their own demise. Maybe from a drug OD or maybe from a few well-placed 9mm bullets when they're finally caught. Regardless of HOW, they WILL get paid back.

$400 easily, tundra is a good converter in the scrap world.

Cats have precious metals in them. Rhodium for one and it's $20,000 an ounce.
They’d have to steal a ton of cats to get anywhere close to that amount. And the amount of work to harvest it is insane

I'd go for a bait truck with some explosives in it, rigged up with a camera.
See 'em crawl under there and BOOM! message sent to all the other assholes out there.

Get some plates like these. About the same price as an insurance deductible without the hit on your record and no need for a rental.

Got our 2019 4runner back in April. Only got 1 side. It was about $1700 repaired @ Toyota. Was in a rental for almost 3 weeks
