What point are you trying to make?
The numbers you are talking about is total Covid-19 deaths total by state. This includes 2020 as well. No shite New York had higher #'s per 100k.
What they are talking about is the surge in "NEW Cases" appearing in Florida and Texas.

If you look at the entirety of the pandemic, NY will have a higher rate. They were hit with the first surge early on. There were no treatments available. Remedisvir and Monoclonal Antibody treatments were not available. The science has progressed. They are now doing much better than other states. If you look at the death rate over the last 7 days, that has changed.
