Actors who peaked for a short time then faded

I’m omitting people who died young in this. What I mean is actors who were really popular for a few years and now are pretty much forgettable.
I’ll submit Jane Lynch, easy to see why, she really plays the one role well and that’s it.
She had those few years with Glee, Role Models, a few other things, she was all over your tv. She’s still working but mostly smaller roles and the shine has worn off.

I am thoroughly convinced he sold his soul to Satan to star in the highest grossing film of all time. I remember with “Terminator Salvation” that he was put on equal billing with Christian Bale and I was thinking “…Who the frick is this guy to get equal billing to Christian Bale?!” Seriously, look at his filmography. He had nothing before Terminator Salvation except some bullshite modern day emo Australian rendition of MacBeth to his name. Unless you discovered someone like Peter O’Toole or Christoph Waltz, it’s completely absurd to put him to equal billing as Christian Bale.
I mean Sam Worthington is not hot enough nor of the right gender to appeal to a Titan like James Cameron. His rise makes no sense to me. He’s completely mediocre and feels like he won the role of Avatar by writing in crayon to some producers “What would I do with an acting career”. The only thing that makes sense is him literally selling his soul to Satan… and then in Satan like fashion destroying his career from there. After that outside of a Disney ride no one gives a frick about that franchise anymore.

JGL was the first who came to mind.
Had a stretch of Dark Knight Rises, Inception, Looper, and a couple more. Seems like he hasn’t been in anything worth a damn in years.

They were spending a quarter of a billion and the actors were pretty inconsequential, you can kinda cut some corners. Wiki says they offered it to Matt Damon for a 10% stake in the profits and he stuck with the Bourne series but he didn't do another Bourne movie for a decade. That's a bad beat for him.

But who did he whore himself out to? He got his start with James Cameron, who is known for breaking out women. I don’t think the casting couch is really Cameron’s thing, and certainly not with a male. This is also always my initial first suspicion, but with Cameron it doesn’t make sense.
