WATCH: Emery Jones shines at LSU's OL/DL Camp

quote:

Thanks to a strong showing on both the football field and basketball court as a junior, as well as a dominant run during LSU's OL/DL Camp, expect to see Jones' stock rise in the summer months as he preps for his final year of high school this fall.

Baton Rouge's Emery Jones makes debut in Top247 rankings
quote:

2022 Baton Rouge (La.) Catholic offensive lineman Emery Jones made his debut in the Top247 rankings as the No. 238 overall prospect in the country on the updated rankings released Wednesday by 247Sports. His strong offseason and high-floor made him a big mover.

"Emery Jones was somebody who got identified back in March by our team as a definite high three-star prospect with four-star potential," national recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said. "He's obviously on the heavy side, and that's something that is a bit of a concern, but at the same time, he was good on the camp scene to provide in-person context to what he showed on his junior tape.

"Another high-floor guy who is not overly long, but gives you a possible plug-and-play option at a few different spots."

Holy shite I thought that’s who it was but damn Wiggins is fricking huge. He is definitely a need in this class and we better not lose him especially to the gumps.

I'm going to guess he'll be a plug and play instant starter at left guard next season.

His feet are also fast enough for him to also become a right tackle as well.

Anyway, this is what I think the OL will look like next season left to right. Cameron Wire, Emery Jones, Charles Turner, Anthony Bradford, and Will Campbell.

This is my honest opinion, if could only pick 1 OL from this class to have best chance to make it as multi year NFL starter, against what recruiting services and probably against most opinions on this board, this is my guy. Truth of matter 3-4 in this class, barring injuries of course will at minimum be drafted. But this cat is dedicating and developing to be All American. Probably in last 3 years I’ve only proclaimed this about 1 other player, obviously Stingley. I was fortunate to see him in a couple settings last few months. Just Saying

In his camp here this summer, Jones really did look amazing. He's got literally everything you want in a dominant interior guy. I am little surprised he's still as low as he is in the rankings, but hard to really be upset over an interior OL guy ranked in the Top 250 or so still.

You think Jones is the #1 remaining player on our board right now? In state kid, huge position of need, and huge upside.

One of the biggest fallacies in ranking is undervaluing interior OL. Ask any QB which is more disruptive, pressure on the edge or up the middle? Which is more important to a run game, lanes between the tackle or setting the edge. The other is the value of a quality center that can make line calls. Cush was more valuable than he gets credited because he not only physically, but mentally set the pace for the OL.
