Took my chainsaw to be repaired...

Husqvarna 450. Won't start or run. Wife dropped it off at noon, got a call back from the shop at 2pm. Said it needed a new carb, filter, gas lines, spark plug. I asked "How much?". Was quoted $200! Looked it up on Amazon and the whole kit is $20 with tax. Am I missing something?

The $180 = the skill and labor to diagnose and later repair the issue you didn't want to spend the time or effort to investigate yourself, and instead sent it to the shop????

Nope. I found a husqvarna weedeater in the trash and put one of the 20 dollar amazon carbs on it. Was tricky to tune but works well.

And what type of carb is the shop using? Vs. the guaranteed Chinese carb from Amazon.

Do it yourself then
I'm pretty sure the "diagnosis" only consisted of pulling the cord a few times. Especially considering they said I need a new spark plug, and the one in it is brand new. The first thing I did when it wouldn't start, was replace it. Didn't help.
$180 in labor costs to repair a $400 tool?

shop time is shop time. It doesn't matter if it was a $50 weedeater or a $12k zeroturn.

Then do it yourself or go buy a new one.
I can't stand cheap, entitled people.

Good part is the quick turn around you had. Some shops will be backlogged for weeks.
You learned a lesson on shop costs. I'm sure it will serve you well into the future.
Rule of thumb: If it cost more than half the cost of new replace.

I will do it for $350 parts included.
Disclaimer: I have no clue what I am doing and can guarantee it will either not run or run all wacky once I am complete.

You seem like a fun customer to have. YOU brought it to a shop to get fixed. Guy will spend a couple hours fixing it and making sure it runs. His time is worth "X" dollars. If you don't like it, go get all the parts and do it yourself.

No offense, but you didn’t know what was wrong with it and they did. You are paying them for their diagnostic service, the parts, plus the labor to fix it.
Did you expect them to do all that for free?

There's usually a diagnostics charge, applied to fix, but certainly well worth it on something you think repair worthy.
