LIVINGSTON, La. (WAFB) - Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks says all parish government offices will close at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 22, and will remain closed until Monday, Aug. 2.

The parish president says he feels it is necessary in response to the growing number of employees and/or employees’ family members that are testing positive for the Delta Variant.

Has anyone in government lost their jobs due to these shutdowns? We know private industry has had to deal with a lot of hurt.

Only for two weeks though. Just two weeks to flatten the curve.

That’s all. That will fix everything . Until it ticks back up again and they shut it down again

I don't understand how politicians just cannot grasp simple things. Shutdowns last year did not work, doing it again will do squat.

The article I saw on WBRZ had a quote that said the closure was more due to “staffing shortages” because of people testing positive.

No excuse for this IMO. Never should go backwards.

This is no longer about the virus, and if the virus came where I think it came from, then this was never about the virus

I must have missed when this was last actually about the virus. This has been about virtue signaling, scoring political wins, and routing money to the right people/companies to various degrees for a very long time now.

Doesn’t that statement seem to suggest they’ll reopen when their employees’ quarantine days have passed? Sounds like they’re short staffed due to positive tests. That’s just how I read it though since they’re giving a target re-opening date.
