I will be in Memphis for a few days. Any recommendations on things to do or places to eat would be greatly appreciated.

Memphis is great in short bursts.
here’s a decent couple days
stay at the Peabody
go to a Redbirds game across the street
eat at rendezvous
go to Graceland
eat at gus’s
there are several better BBQ joints than rendezvous but the experience is worth it. The stadium is magnificent. That little area around the Peabody is really neat

Carolina watershed and Loflin yard are cool places to day drink outside and listen to live music near downtown
Lots of bars/restaurants in the Cooper Young area. Young Ave Deli has a great beer selection. Celtic crossing is a divey Irish pub that had one of the best Reuben sandwiches I’ve ever had
Edge Alley has good food near downtown—next door is High Cotton brewery
Flight if you want something upscale. Truly a gustatory paradise
Everyone has an opinion on BBQ. I haven’t tried them all but Central on Central is my favorite of the ones I’ve tried
Check out the rooftop bar downtown at the Hyatt or Hu (it was the Madison)
Railgarten and Crosstown Concourse can be worth checking out

McEwen's or Flight are very good restaurants.

Agree 100% with flight. Add itta bena to the list as well. It’s too bad the Hu is there now bc the Madison was probably the best place to stay until they changed it. Even the rooftop is lame. Porch and Parlor is probably the best restaurant in Memphis. Go to the lookout at Bass Pro if never been done. Redbirds game is fun. Pass on Rendezvous.

Following thread...we're going in early October and have a VRBO downtown near Beale

Does anybody go to Beale St. anymore? Or has it been ruined forever?

Yeah, a lot of folks do. Not who you want to be around though. Go to Cooper Younng/Midtown. Specifically Mollie Fontsine. Bar Dogs is pretty cool too.

I've been to midtown but it was so long ago. Beale was wild and fun 20 years ago, with a great live music scene.

We were in Memphis for NYE 1999 (Y2K) and were walking down Beale. We saw them setting up for something at Handy Park (often have free concerts there) so we walked over to check it out. Turns out it was BB King. We were on the front row.

Our apt is on S Main Street near Madison. Just the wife and I, no kids.
Ive never been to Graceland on any of our trips so we will probably hit that one day and we're partial to "lounge" style places for entertainment with small plates and such...wine - cocktail bars, etc. so anything in that area that would be walkable would be appreciated.

BB King’s on Beale. Ride the duck. Good tour

Definitely check out Carolina watershed and Loflin yard. They both have a rustic and organic feel but really cool—especially during the day with nice weather
Silly goose and bar ware are more of a lounge experience that you’d probably enjoy

Me and a couple of buds would go to Beale for a long weekend every summer. Hell sometimes we'd go during the week and still hung around Beale. Haven't been there in probably 5 years.
I figured with the Griz there that they would keep it up better. Is that not the case?

See I think it's a must try. Sit downstairs in the old part, eat the ribs and the sausage and cheese plate.
Just remember it isn't slow smoked ribs, it is charcoal grilled ribs.

exactly
ribs
meat/cheese plate
Greek salad

Sorry for the downvote… I fat fingered it… My wife and I are doing the exact same thing

I enjoyed the Top of The Bass Pro Shop at The Pyramid...also saw Tyson vs Eitteinne there as well.

So what brings me to town is Im racing the half ironman on Oct 2 (the day LSU plays Auburn)...so since we don't know if it will be a day or night game yet, what places downtown would you suggest for watching the game?
The race is out at Shelby Farms but I am not sticking around for much of the after party and would prefer to not drive anywhere once we get back to our VRBO. Early morning, likely dehydrated, day drinking, etc

there’s a pretty decent music festival at the amphitheater that weekend if that’s any interest to you. Going up there for it myself
