Hypothetical: What degree of credit would PM deserve if 2022 LSU dogpiles in Omaha?

Credit for loading the roster with talent?
For keeping the program seaworthy even if unspectacular lately?
For steeping down at the right time?

Or no credit at all if CJJ succeeds in waking up the sleeping giant?

Less than 20%. If they win it all, people will ask why we didn’t do more this previous season. Especially with the pitching staff.

He will get some. 2020 class was and is awesome

This is probably the best team to take over. The team is stacked

He gets credit for being classy and helping keep the team together while bridging the gap to the new coach. Other than that not much because if he would have stayed we would not be competing for a CWS next year

Zero. You’ll see what can happen when talent is coached up. Something he never did.

Depends on what Jay Johnson does the rest of his tenure. If he continues to win national championships it’s 100 percent him and it proves how terrible CPM was if he never wins again it’s going to be he is terrible and he only won with CPM’s players.

This is true to an extent but for a program like LSU to have weaknesses at catcher, ss, 2nd is also on CPM. The bottom of our lineup was the weakest I have ever seen at LSU.

Credit for helping assemble the roster.
And even more credit for stepping away when he did (whether forced or not).

He’s classy. I like the guy.

But with Coach Jay taking over, I’m more excited now than I have been in about a decade.

Should be interesting to see how the replies to this thread jive with the "Les won with Saban's players" crowd

My answer is maybe 5%. Yes, PM left the program in good shape, but not championship ready. More importantly. all the coaching decisions that will be made between now and this hypothetical dog pile matter. PM will be making none of those.

Yeah all of those consecutive losing seasons, all of those years with no trips to regionals or super regionals, no trips to Omaha, no SEC Championships.

Yeah buddy you are right CPM couldn't coach and never could.

Our offense wasn’t really the issue last year. It was our complete shite rotation outside of like 3 arms. We routinely have great recruiting classes only for our pitchers to never develop.

One of the biggest draws for Coach JJ for me was being able to replace CAD. Talk about super overrated.

I forgot to add that to my post. LSU has NEVER had any great pitchers, right?

Why do fans put more emphasis on an SEC Championship than Omaha? The fact of the matter is that we should’ve been in Omaha more. We shite the bed in postseason when we had absolutely stacked rosters. It’s a damn shame that the team that lost to Stony Brook didn’t make Omaha seeing that it had 7 players with MLB service. Same can be said for Coastal and Houston.

I can't disagree with you there. LSU SHOULD be in Omaha every year.

And about that Stony Brook? Whatever happened to them?

What I don't get is what team should LSU ever lose to? I mean nobody ever has the talent LSU has. Amirite?

So PM should still be coaching in your eyes then?

2019 being cut short saved us from that season being even worse. Same offense without Crews, Morgan and Thompson.
