We’re effectively in Civil War right now and have two Presidents. Susan Rice answering to the Shadow Council of Oligarchs is one and Ron DeSantis is the other (Trump is a general at this point). With this cowardly and treasonous statement from Alejandro Mayorkas (himself of Cuban descent), what the frick are the Feds going to do if DeSantis tells him and the Feds to go to hell and declares Florida a sanctuary state for anti-communists? Are the Cubans going to land in Delaware? Welcome the people from Hong Kong there while he’s at it. Seriously, the Feds can do nothing about this and DeSantis needs to give them the finger.

Agreed. The other southern states should subsequently offer to take in whatever number Florida can’t efficiently resettle

Trump doesn’t have power right now. DeSantis does. Plus there have been plenty of generals in history more popular than the actual leader. You’ll find no shortage of those. Think Stalin was more popular than Zhukov? Zhukov’s popularity is pretty much the only thing that kept him alive after WWII and the only person Stalin truly feared. Rommel at his death was certainly more popular than Hitler, which is why they gave him the option of suicide or brutally killing his family if he didn’t.

Welcome to Bawrida my Cuban brothers!

I don’t think I’ve ever met someone from Cuba who wasn’t friendly, kind, funny and hardworking and there are plenty Cuban folks here in PBC.

and while he is at it; also call an emergency governors meeting because the people of Florida and the nation can no longer petition or protest govt peaceably.

Also as a matter of national security during a pandemic with a Biden open border

Democrats are panicking because based Cubans are making the Miami-Dade metro area redder and thus making Florida much harder to win for statewide contests.

Trump carried Florida by 3 points last year.

DeSantis and Rubio will win by 4-10 points next year on the back of an even bigger Cuban coalition.

GOP, conservatives and MAGAs Staaaaaaacked

Democrats, liberals and communists fuuuuuuuucked.

NO! this is the mistake we made over 60 years ago. We took in and allowed the opposition to Castro to leave Cuba for the U.S. We removed the opponents to his consolidation of power. This time, instead of welcoming them here, it should be US policy to seek out and help the opposition to strengthen and bring freedom to the Cuban people.

60 years ago we weren’t in danger of becoming communist. Now we are. The Press Secretary refuses to denounce communism for God’s sake.

If we're going to accept illegals, might as well take the hard working, family oriented, Christian, anti-communist, pro-American, pro-capitalist, Cubans.

Nope. No more nation building or coup-fomenting subversive bullshite. It has never worked, and it will never work. The internal machinations and/or governments of other nations is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

That would be absolutely glorious if were to do that. Declare it, even if you can't enforce it. The irony to that happening vs the other 'sanctuary cities' promoted by the Dems would be epic.

I’ve often made the point that we can’t give the people freedom. The only way we should help them is if and only if, want freedom and is willing to fight to earn it for themselves.

That was not the case with the Afghanis as they’re just now letting the taliban take over everything.

However, the Cuban people both in Florida and in Cuba itself are protesting loudly for their freedom and want to topple the dictatorship. I don’t know about it being representative enough of a sample size but it’s something to consider.

As a person that lives in Florida , I wouldn’t mind. I would take the ones from Hong Kong too. Democrats don’t want anyone who will stand in their way of making the US communist. We need to send a bunch of them to all the states that cheated. They would be ready to change voting laws if we filled purple states with anti communist illegal immigrants.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not against the Cuban people or their coming to America. What I'm against is perpetuation of the same mistake over and over again because our hearts are bigger than our brains. If you truly want to help Cuba, then let's give the Cubans the support necessary to change their own country. Let's not remove the building blocks of that coalition that would have a chance to make a positive change for the country.

So is the criteria for letting refugees into the country now based on the economic theory of the violent dictators?

I was thinking the same.

He should tell them that all state agency boats are friendly but they should avoid the U.S. Coast Guard.
