Not at all. I support it. Welcome them with open arms. Send the Coast Guard out to the edge of Cuban waters and scoop them up in fact to ensure they make it to the US safely.

If you truly want to help Cuba, then let's give the Cubans the support necessary to change their own country.

This is what I categorically oppose. No more meddling. Anywhere. It ONLY backfires and costs the US resources while (a) making the situation in the subject country worse and (b) gaining the US a new slate of enemies. It has never worked. Artificially propping up a movement or a replacement government results in enormous backlash and failure the minute we throttle back. Every. Single. Time.

If he did this, it would cement him in as the future, de facto leader of the Counter Revolution.

I would like to extend an offer from the state of Alabama to take in the refugees from Hong Kong.

I don't know that much about Cuba. My initial reaction to the Mayorkas comment was the same as everyone else's.

Which is why I was a bit confused by Rubio's rhetoric that Cuba encouraging immigration to the US should be viewed as an act of war.

Based on my own research, it sounds like the Mayorkas comment is pretty similar to what Clinton did with Guantanamo, and could be (if we were to give the benefit of the doubt) in an effort to keep people from making dangerous attempts to cross. But, of course, in an era of Democrats ceasing to enforce our southern border, it seems questionable.

I see someone mentioned the idea of keeping the discontented Cubans there as a way to encourage revolution - maybe that's lurking behind Rubio's stance?

Someone fill me in

We definitely cannot allow them to flood Guantanamo.

All other considerations aside, there isn’t the infrastructure there to provide for thousands of refugees to begin with. It would be a humanitarian disaster.

Personally, I’m not even sure why we still possess Guantanamo. We don’t need it.

Illegal immigration is bad, except when they vote with my side. Got to love how both sides don't even try to hide their blatant hypocrisy.

Fleeing violent communist despotism =\= wanting to make more money. The former is what asylum is for, the latter (should) requires waiting in line.

Fake China Joe ain't doing nothing. If Trump was in office, he would have provided the Cuban people aid such as weapons or anything to topple those communists.

We’re effectively in Civil War right now and have two Presidents. Susan Rice answering to the Shadow Council of Oligarchs is one and Ron DeSantis is the other (Trump is a general at this point). With this cowardly and treasonous statement from Alejandro Mayorkas (himself of Cuban descent), what the frick are the Feds going to do if DeSantis tells him and the Feds to go to hell and declares Florida a sanctuary state for anti-communists? Are the Cubans going to land in Delaware? Welcome the people from Hong Kong there while he’s at it. Seriously, the Feds can do nothing about this and DeSantis needs to give them the finger.

That would be freakin awesome if Desantis did that i mean fawkin awesome. A big FU to Biden and his team

You and I are not speaking the same language. The question is whether you are doing it on purpose or because of honest misunderstanding. I'm not looking to prop anyone up. I'm suggesting we give those suffering from oppression the tools to fight for their own freedom. If they are popular they may succeed. If not, they will not. What will come, will come not from American blood, but because the will of the Cuban people seeks it.

I am not suggesting some Bush or Woodrow Wilson-like nation building model or some Lyndon Johnson power grab. The idea is to allow what is popular to take hold in the face of communist tyranny. It's the civilized thing to do.

Don’t see the issue…they all refugees just like they claim they are in Mexico…shite, Biden even giving them free first class flights across our country courtesy of our military.

Clinton’s butthole puckered up real tight I bet with all this going down.

It would depend on whether the refugees can get past the coast guard first.

Just a quick story, fwiw. My Nephew went to his Mother's house the other day, and there was a 'crew' of non-English speaking Latinos installing her flooring. Father, Mother, 7 yr. old Son and Daughters. All were hustling...big time. Nephew said that they were "booked up" for weeks ahead.

That is the essence of Capitalism; competition brings consumer prices down. IF these people are brought into the Capitalist economic fold, and become responsible, prosperous, TAX-PAYING folk, there is plenty of room for them.

And you can bet that they will reject the idea of paying their 'competition' ("oppressed" Blacks or slacker Whites) either 'Reparations' for slavery , or subsidies to lay up and vote Dem. And they will be quick to vote for the Party that slams Cartel heathen, of the which they full well know the barbarity of not doing so turns out.

Bottom line: It's not color or ethnicity, but MLK's "character" that counts. Watch the Left bail on 'immigration' once a lot of these coming Immigrants poo poo the Socialist ideological movement.

So is the criteria for letting refugees into the country now based on the economic theory of the violent dictators?

Are you still pretending that illegal aliens from central America and mexico are refugees?

Refugees are people persecuted for their beliefs or identity. Those being persecuted for speaking out against communist regimes, Christians in the ME and africa, whites in south Africa are refugees. The people being let in by the hundreds of thousands by Biden are not refugees.
