Fast Eddie was 93. I figure I'll err on the side of caution and get it when I'm 91.

I dont normally speak ill of the dead but frick him. Good glad he's dead before the dumb fricks in this state elected him for something else. This piece of shits policies and grift has fricked Louisiana so bad we will never be able to climb out of this bottomless pit we are in. He is 100% responsible for every dug in crooked arse democrat and republican politician that we cant weed out.

I had the chance to get to know him in the last few years.

Even at his age, he was sharp in mind and quick in wit.

He knew we were from opposite political perspectives (although he was an old school Democrat and did not care for a lot of what the national party was doing), but our discussions were always civil and he seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say.

He had his failings and his demons, and he will have to answer for those; however, that was not the man I got to know and I am sad at his passing.

Rest In Peace, Governor.

That’s an incredibly polite way to say criminal who destroyed a state for generations.

Among Edwards’ last words were, “I have lived a good life, had better breaks than most, had some bad breaks, too, but that’s all part of it. I tried to help as many people as I could and I hope I did that, and I hope, if I did, that they will help others, too. I love Louisiana and I always will.”

That’s a lot of last words.

Ask the thousands of his constituents he fleeced out of their oil & gas royalties just how "interesting" he was. As noted in an earlier thread, many good people In the Crowley area have always felt the wrong Edwards was shot.

The father of Louisiana corruption. We would be a much better state if it wasn't for him.

Love him or hate him, you have to admit the man was an interesting and colorful Louisiana character.

Says a lot about citizens of Louisiana.
My now deceased oldest sister and her husband defended him until the end. She was a school teacher and he was an employee of the state.
I had a 1st cousin who defended Edward's honesty. Said Edwards told everyone that he was crooked, and he admired that.
I always thought my cousin was slightly retarded.

I got to know him in college through his then daughter in law. In all the times I ran into him, he was always kind and decent, and he always remembered my name even after years in prison. When my son was born while he was in prison, he sent me a kind letter congratulating me, he also sent one of the nicest condolence letters when my mother died in 2007 as well.

Whatever you want to say about his actions as a public person, on a personal level he was warm and cheerful and kind. I have gotten to know his grandsons and granddaughter quite well over the years and they always laughed when they spoke of him calling him a character. I feel today for his grandsons Edwin and Stephen this morning.

If He is, very merciful, Edwards will still spend eternity in hell.

I had a similar experience although I never ran into him again after he went to prison.

He was busy lining his and his friends pockets while other states were investing in the future.

Couldn't stand the corrupt bastard, but did vote for him over David Duke.
