Hollywood has officially run out of ideas now. The last great memory of our childhood is getting a new look.
Reboot in Alabama
I will always be hung up on Winnie Cooper.

Watching the Wonder Years in my 40s was like watching an ENTIRELY different show. As a kid it was just funny and relatable. Now, It is genius and it is incredibly poignant.
Winnie gave me the tingles too!
Not watching a reboot.

I mean this concept doesnt bother me
The 60s was definitely different for black americans
Honestly, it seems like a good thing to show how the black community lived before the nuclear family was destroyed

Lulz. Why create something that has a black identity when you can take can take a classic white supremacist show and turn it black?

Especially since the concept (takes place in the past with one of the characters narrating) can be recycled endlessly with different settings.
They should have set this one in the early 2000s - that would have made it 20 years ago just like the original series.

Danica has aged like a fine wine, sheesh.

Oh shite, it’s Gus
I’ll never hate in a show with Dule Hill.

When do we get the remake of Good Times where the poor white family lives in the hood struggling to escape?

Yeah exactly.
I’ve actually been really looking forward to this. The trailer looks like a perfect addition to TWY universe imo:

And the fact that Savage is heavily involved makes me think it’s going to be very careful in trying to live up to the tone of the original.
Could really be great if done well.

When I say “the hood”, I mean “projects”.
Good Times took place in the Cabrini-Green projects which was notoriously dangerous.
The Bundys didn’t have to worry about the local gangs threatening to break Bud’s neck.

You're in a thread about a black family leading black lives, and you're complaining that there aren't shows about white families leading black lives?

My point is that they took a white show and remade it with a black family but they aren’t taking a black show and remaking it with a white one.
“Diversity” is a one way street in Hollywood.

They're not remaking anything. Different family, different city. It's a totally different story told under the umbrella of the Wonder Years brand.

I will never let go of the torch I carried for Winnie Cooper.
My crush on Debbie Gibson might've been shattered by the stupid shite she did as an adult, but Winnie Cooper's flame burns eternally.

I bet it will at least have some damn good Motown music in it.

Why put the "Wonder Years" name on it? Cant it stand on its own?
The same reason they called the films "Mission Impossible" instead of "Ethan Hunt". They have a recognizable brand they can build on and a star of the former series who is willing to lend his name as a producer.
