Yeah, Magneto and Professor X stopped it.

lol...
Like anyone could even answer that based on all the possibilities that could exist in this hypothetical situation.

You’re assuming humanity would have survived?

They would just reset the matrix

Most of us on the OT would not be here. Either died or never were born.

No no no. It was Superman.

That’s why I had “if any” in there. There probably would’ve been some humans left. About to only way to completely kill ALL humans would physical destruction of the planet (Death Star destruction type stuff) or extraterrestrial invasion.

That would’ve been me. My parents lived in Bossier at the time and I wasn’t yet born.

That's true.
But, if it wasn't total destruction, we actually may have been better off if something had happened. Americans would be a lot more knowledgeable of the threat of socialism and communism.

Humanity would have survived. In the early 60s both sides combined lack the capability to snuff out all of humanity.
The most likely outcome of a full nuclear exchange between the Soviet Inion and the US in the early 60s would most likely have resulted in far less damage, at least for the US, than most realize. The truth is, if you take an objective look at the defensive and offensive capability of each country at that time, the most likely outcome is both sides would have suffered casualties in the millions but the Soviets would have taken far more damage than the US. But neither side would have totally wiped out the other.

Yeah, but the ones of us who would be here would be tough as shite and have a glowing set of truck nuts.

For one thing, Baton Rouge wouldn't be here. The Exxon refinery made it a primary nuclear target during the Cold War and the proximity of the missiles in Cuba would have guaranteed it was one of the first cities wiped out if things had gotten hot.
Looking around BR today, that might not have been so bad.

The majority of people might have survived the initial bombardment, but then there’s the nuclear fallout, a nuclear winter lasting years, and the complete breakdown of society.
Yes, humans would have survived, but for how long?

I didn't have a chance of being here really, at the time both parents and grandparents lived within spitting distance of a nuclear plant.

I don't think anyone would've been better off with two global powers lobbing nukes over the Atlantic, not to mention what would've happened between each of our ally countries.

i would have been well protected after having practiced at school on how to get under my desk, duck down and kiss my arse goodbye

Yes.. the ol "my city would have been wiped out in a nuclear war" trope. The same thing was said right after 9/11 in a morbid attempt to make people feel like their city is more important than it is.
The Soviets had plans for nukes to hit every city in the US.

Bossier would have been pretty high on their list of targets in the early 60's .
Barksdale is certainly still on the list, but they have so many warheads that it could be well outside the top hundred or so and still get fried in the first 30 mins.
