Resume job titles?

Not quite sure how to handle this. I need to update my resume. My official title is just my job. But my actual position is as a senior.
So for example, I joined as a junior dishwasher and I got promoted now I’m a senior dishwasher but per my company records, I’m just a dishwasher. Even though when I’m introduced to clients, I am introduced as a senior dishwasher.
Would it be wrong to put senior dishwasher on my resume?

Not if you can back it up

You can clarify with a cover letter or the description below the title.
If they ask say it's keyword optimization.

Señor Dishwasher has a nice ring to it.

Back it up how? Through explanation? Yes. We are referred to as seniors within our business unit by everyone. Through the company, no, they would just say we were promoted from the prior junior position. But that doesn’t accurately reflect the position as the main part of the job is to being taken off day to day activities to support mgmt
I just think it’s silly to not be able to add the senior title because semantics

No. Not if that’s your actual job and certainly not if that’s how you are held out to the public/clients.

why?
If it’s because you are job hunting then put whatever you want on there.
your job is to get the interview
honestly “senior” doesn’t really mean anything to me.
you’re either talented and smart or you aren’t. Your resume needs to reflect your qualifications not your place in someone else’s pecking order

Man I know “seniors” with 3 years of experience. Job titles don’t mean shite these days

I mean yeah. Senior isn’t that advanced in every business unit I’ve ever been in. Your supposed to be promoted here every year or two until you get into management and that’s like 4 or 5 promotions. But it’s better than being seen as junior

Well, it does show a level of progression and a willingness to take on more responsibilities

I mean I wouldn't give a shite. I'm going to care more about the details and responsibilities below the title than the title.

As someone that goes through resumes often, being a "senior" whatever isn't offputting at all. Its the people who put "Sanitation Engineer" when they were in charge of dumping the trash at Popeye's in their last role that get tossed without a 2nd look.

no it doesn’t
to me it just means you have tenure
take it from an employer...it doesn’t matter.
put whatever you want

Yea, I would stretch as much as possible. Employers don’t seem to care

Anyone that reviews your resume will focus more on this, and what it means, than whatever job title you put down. If you think it will help you standout, put the senior in the job title. The only way an interviewer will know is when they check for references, which means you basically already have the job. If your current employer does not list you as senior, or corrects them, the potential future employer will reach out to you about the discrepancy and you can explain it again (it will be after your interview where I would assume you would discuss the potential issue)

I have no contribution to this discussion, I am just checking in to let y'all know that I read the subject as Resume job titties.

I put Senior Analyst for one of my jobs, when in reality my job title was Analyst IV, which was the highest level analyst
Posted on 6/11/21 at 12:37 pm to athenslife101
Probably only matters if/when they check references.
Personally, I’d keep it to my actual job title.

If you're worried about sticking to the literal title, you could always mentiond a promotion in the bullet points
Dishwasher Mcdonalds Corp 2011-2021
- Washed dishes
- Washed dishes and cleaned countertops after being promoted to senior dishwasher
