FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – TCU is changing the way it categorizes first-year students.
The university announced it’s dropping the term, “freshmen” and will call incoming undergraduates “first-year students.”
Campus leaders said the move reflects the university’s use of gender inclusive language.
“I am proud that TCU is officially making the commitment to this terminology,” Kathy Cavins-Tull, vice chancellor for Student Affairs, said. “It is a reflection of our university-wide commitment to inclusive excellence.”

I think that was the last issue keeping society from becoming perfect. Congrats we did it!

At least from an etymology standpoint freshman was an historically gendered term. Freshwoman was also used in the 1600s in reference to women... but still stupid.

No sane person is attending a four year university these days. If I was young it would be trade school or GTFO

What about all of those students that are actually 2nd year students but are still classified as first year students? Their feelings are going to be hurt and that leads to therapy. Obviously TCU will need to pay for that therapy or give them emotional support Horned Frogs.

Always the ones with hyphens.

Life’s gonna be real tough for you if you feel
Misgendered due to the term freshman and think that that is holding you back or keeping you down

Great work TCU. "Freshpersons" would much better.

Assuming they have a proposal on the books to change the "C" in "TCU" from "Christian" to "cucked?"
Posted on 6/10/21 at 2:15 pm to blueridgeTiger
Should have changed it to fresh meat.

Obviously I know a lot of people from the school and know a lot of donors and know a lot of people who are close to donors... I dont know who is still contributing money to this school. I tell the TCU fundraisers to piss off all the time. The black lives matter push last year caused a lot of donors to stop donating. So my question is... who is still giving money to this school?
One of my family's close friends heads up the fundraising operation in the athletic department... I do not envy his job these days.

That don't cut it. The preferred designations are "fresh birthing persons" (females) and "fresh non-birthing persons" (all other genders). I know TCU will get this one right.

Texas CHRISTIAN University
Oh man, all you hard right Christians, how are you feeling about this??
Also, Aggies haven't called their graduates "alumni" for a while... they call them "Former Students" so I guess aggy was ahead of the game on this inclusive stuff!

Don't they charge a pretty high tuition? Maybe they don't need too many donations.
Do they get money from the Disciples of Christ?

It just won't sound the same:
'Who got bounced at Harvard,
Princeton, Yale and Brown?
Freddy the Freshman!
The freshest kid in town!'

How will this effect football - they can no longer have "red-shirt freshmen"?

Yeah if TCU is doing this silly shite??? God only knows what UT has up its sleeve.

That's a direct stab at the "Texas Exes" association.
"There are no former Aggies, there are current students and former students."
There's even governance on how to wear your Aggie Ring based on that. (Numbers facing in = current, numbers facing out = former)

Were it not for the fact that I'm married to one, I'd have no use for white women at this point.

It was $28k a year when I went there... its gotta be over $60k now
It seems like they have gone all in over the last 5-10 years in trying to attract wealthy California students
I wouldn't send my kid there these days unless they got a full ride. It's not anywhere near worth it.
