Restrictions are pretty much gone at this point. What few remain, no one pays attention to them.

Depending on age of family and interest; bourbon tours, ponies at Churchill. Pretty nice zoo, caves, Kentucky kingdom(great people watching) for the kids.

Move to the east end, oldham county, or southern Indiana.

I moved there for work in March 2017.

Left my job there in October 2018. Didn't want to leave but the new corporate ownership for the company I was working for didn't seem to value my department or team very much so I decided not to stick around.

I liked it there and saw myself settling down there. Let me know if you have any questions.

Everyone you meet who is from there will almost always ask you "Where did you go to high school". This is a way to feel you out in terms of your social standing and class. There is a lot of "old money" snobbery there but for the most part the people are nice.

The further east in Jefferson County you live, the better.

Unfortunately Louisville also charges a city tax ontop of the state income tax. If you really want to, you can live in Indiana to dodge half of this, but the other half will be paid by your employer.

The obvious tourist attraction is going to be Churchill Downs. I think Kentucky Kingdom is weak for an amusement park. The waterpark actually has one of the tallest waterslides in the entire world. Going on a riverboat such as the Belle can be fun.

Lots of people will mention Bardstown Road but I think its overrated. Just a road of expensive hipster type restaurants and a bunch of Bernie Sanders supporter types. I prefer St. Matthews, Brownsboro, or Norton Commons or if you are looking for a bar/nightlife scene over Bardstown Road.

They closed down my favorite hangout(Old Chicago on Wesport Road) unfortunately. But Captain's Quarters is a good place.

UL Basketball draws about 18k for their home games if you like basketball.

Is this your first time working away from home?

You sound like a newbie at projects with these questions.

Chase your paper playboy, and congrats.

Edt: You will be working at a facilities in Indiana?

What discipline do you specialize in, or any?

So, it seems like you do something close to this for a living, no? Do want us to do this new job for you as well?

I know this. Housing prices are very low. Wife and I visited last fall. We were shocked at the cost of homes.

Had a great time there, BTW, despite downtown being boarded up because of mostly peaceful riots.

All state restrictions go away on June 11th.

I don't live in Louisville, but museums, Churchill Downs, etc. South and east Louisville is where you would want to live.

Not Louisville but just got back from Bowling Green and saw very very few masks. Those were mostly employees at places.

Louisville is one of those cities where it's right in the middle of being a small and big city. It's a very nice place to raise a family. A lot of activities for everybody to enjoy

Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

Churchill Downs

Kentucky Derby Museum

Muhammad Ali Center

If you enjoy Baseball, I highly suggest going to Louisville Slugger Field which is the home of the Louisville Bats (Triple A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds). Usually greats crowds and has a nice atmosphere

Mammoth Cave

I live in Louisville now but I am from south LA. Been here for a few years. My suggestion would be to find a home somewhere on the east end. Middletown is a great area for a family.

Lots of stuff to do here but admittedly the COVID restrictions have been harsh the last year. They are set to expire this week. Pretty liberal city if you are okay with living around all that entails.

The low tax part is incorrect if you are coming from LA. Not only will you have a higher state income tax rate but you get the added pill of local income taxes. It’s flat tax rate depending on which area you live in

I don’t know where you are moving from, but KY income taxes are higher than La AND most cities have local taxes of 1-3% so make sure you factor that in
