There is literally a hood right behind it.
It's also "literally" across the street from Southdowns and within mile and a half of Rouzan, the Perkins overpass, the homes off of Stanford Ave, the park area, and the lakes area. If all of those areas aren't safe because of the one smaller area near them then there isn't a safe place anywhere in Baton Rouge. Just rename the city Trou de Merde Rouge.

At this current pace I wouldn’t be surprised if the homicide numbers get pretty damn close to 200 dead by the end of the year.

Yep. And coming back for football games is losing its luster, too.

Sucks, but it is what it is. It’s a dump.

With the brazen and recent uptick in crime, There’s been a few friends on social media that are pondering selling their homes and moving out of state. They’ve really had enough.

Where are they moving? NE Idaho? Are there any top 100 MSAs that have seen a decrease in violent crime in the last 24 months? I'm sure some google master will prove me wrong but I'm guessing the vast majority of top 100 have seen a rise in violent crime.

Sounds like a good start to me. I'd like to see 500. Maybe that will waken up the voters in this parish.

Without a doubt I will be retiring elsewhere. Just biding my time.

I know it's a running joke on here but this shite really is starting to get way out of hand and in areas where anyone of us could be.

There is a Boondocks episode about this situation.

Somebody stepped on somebody else's shoes and had a moment.

Surprised a developer has not bought out a lot of the homes in Valley Park to make that area commercial lots or upper end multi family homes or condos.

Yup we’ve taught this history lesson before, when whitey left EBR in the 70s and 80s to get away from forced busing school decay it was called white flight.

When witey tries to move back to the city with new developments in impoverished areas it’s gentrification.

Whitey is racist going and coming from cities.

Here the heck is NE Idaho? If any state lacks a NE corner, it’s Idaho.

Comes down to the whole system is broken.
- the some of the community you serve thinks you are the problem not the solution until they need your help.
- bad leadership which is not motivating all the officers especially the newer ones.
- good officers give up when DA and judges let them go
- bad ones learned how to play the system until they got caught.
- DA too relaxed on going after these thugs
-Judges slap the thugs on the wrist
