“Mental health” is stupid

I’d like to start this rant off by saying that if you have actual mental problems, this is not directed towards you. With that out of the way, just like all the other bullshite crutches that people use today. Naomi Osaka is a prime current example. Didn’t want to get interviewed and said she’d pay the fine, then faced backlash for not wanting to do her interview (which is part of her fricking job) so she just quits the French open and cites “mental health” as the issue.
I see this excuse in the same vain as somebody throwing the race card down. When somebody uses it, it’s like there’s a protective shield around them and you can’t refute what they said or you’re somehow a piece of shite. It’s bullshite and ought to be called out nonstop. If you’ve got real mental problems, that’s one thing. But you having anxiety over people calling you out for not doing your job doesn’t equal some sort of mental health problem and it’s shitty to use that argument.
Frankly, I’m sick and tired of hearing about all this mental health bullshite. What happened to stoicism? What happened to the grin and bear it mentality? I think there’s a deeper issue for all these “mental health” problems we’re having in this nation and in western civilization as a whole but I don’t think this is the thread for that.
frick soft people like Naomi Osaka and a lot of people in my age group.

He is right though. People these days have many excuses for why they just can't hack it. Go look at reddit and see how soft some people in this society are.

You don't know what kind of shite people are dealing with. You just do you. We all only have one life to live.

Yeah OP has issues no doubt. Needs to talk to somebody before he snaps. We all have our own tolerance, but you can only "grin and bear it" for so long.

It is pretty well known now those things often lead to other worse mental issues often manifesting drug and alcohol issues.
A physical sports corollary would be a pitcher ask to throw 120 pitches in a game then expected to throw 100 more on 1 days rest then another 100 after one days rest. That doesn't build you up it breaks you down.

Wow. Mental health is a real issue. Would you call my uncle "stupid"?

This does not make “mental health” stupid.

If mental health can get her out of ridiculous and pointless work like post match press conferences, more power to her. I’d hate that shite too

The words "anxiety" and "depression" no longer have any meaning - they are the go-to response by Gen Z about why they feel bad, why they made a mistake, why they overslept, why they didn't do their homework, why they don't have a job. It's almost always self-diagnosed until they go to their PCP and get handed scripts for antipsychotics like candy. I work mostly with white women age 18-24 and almost every single one claims to suffer from both on a daily basis.
But the OP is lumping that in with a dismissal of actual treatment for mental health problems which is colossally stupid. I wasted 10 years of my life before seeking out treatment for clinical depression. I was an empty, soulless husk of a person and it was greatly affecting the people I cared about.

Yeah, at least Ricky Williams put on a helmet. Maybe she could do the same.
