Doesn’t appear to be a bad group of guys. Not sure about Kyrie though. If LBJ was playing, I would almost hope they lose.

Are Serbia, France, and Spain the top contenders to compete with USA?

Is it just me or is that group too guard heavy? Seems like they need a couple more true 4 or 5s

Doesn't matter, my son Luka is going to bring home the gold for Slovenia

Just like my father, Manu, did for Argentina back in 08

That's usually the case in international play/olympics.

Usually go with versatile lineups. Lots of Guards and wings, like 2 PFs and maybe 1 C.

I think Kyrie and Kawhi don't play.

I don't recall Kawhi ever actually playing for Team USA in competition. Pretty sure he has not played in the Olympics or FIBA.

No player that makes a deep run in the playoffs will play. They will likely add a guy or two, like Ja Morant.

These seem more likely. Harris though probably wouldn't play if Philly makes the ECF.

I just don't see any guy that makes a deep playoff run wanting to play in the Olympics due to the timing issue.

Based on predicted playoff performance:

Adebayo
Allen
Booker
Butler
Curry
Derozan
George
Kawhi
Lavine
Lillard
Lowery
Randle
Tatum
Zion

Only see Kyrie, Middleton, and Harris missing due to a deep playoff run.

If the Mavs go too deep into the playoffs he's not going to be able to play in the Olympics qualifying round.

The NBA playoffs go through July 22 and the qualifying tourney starts on June 30.

quote:

The Olympic field in Tokyo will feature 12 teams. Seven qualified through the 2019 FIBA World Cup, including the United States. The host country gets one of the spots. The final four are up for grabs this summer. There are four tournaments with the winner of each advancing to the Olympics.

Luka Doncic and Slovenia are in the Lithuanian Olympic Qualifying tournament. There are six teams in the competition. Slovenia faces Angola on June 30 before playing Poland on July 1. They must win one of those games to advance to the knockout stage. There Lithuania, Korea, or Venezuela will await. Luka would have to lead his national team to wins in the semifinals and finals to advance to Tokyo.

The Mavericks making a deep playoff run could throw a wrench into the plans. The NBA Playoffs are set to go through July 22 if the NBA Finals reaches game seven. Dallas going deep into the postseason could keep Doncic off the Slovenian National Team.
