Need to get tools again for boat, current set has met its match against rust.

Anyone have any methods they recommend to prevent tools from rusting?

How about recommendations on a tool set?

FWIW, this is what I had previous tools stored in:

Mine are just rusted but my boat is somewhat newer. Not sure what all I would be fixing. I just leave them rusted in a bag. I have one of those boxes you pictured and it seems to stay pretty dry.

Tools stay dry in it, Boat is stored on a covered lift behind house, so it is around water.

Wrap them in a towel lightly coated with some WD-40 or the like. Put that in the box

Silica gel desiccant bags or pouches in box with light coating of wd40 or LPS 3 or Corrosion X

We coat ours in red grease, in a zipper bag with grease on the zipper inside an ammo can. Kind of depends if you'd rather have rusty unusable tools or greasy hands when you do need the tools. Leave it in there long enough and the salt will still win.

Douse in wd40, put in a bag with a rag. Re-spray frequently. Its damn hard to do if you fish salt water.

Throw these in a marine grade sealed box like you have pictured. Along with the other post about wrapping the tools in a cloth. Get some Corrosion X. Very good stuff. Spray the tools and give the cloth a good spray down. I cut a pair of long sleeves off of an old shirt, put the tools in, and tied up the ends.

Use silicone spray, WD40-brand corrosion inhibitor spray, or Fluid Film. Could line the bottom with VCI loaded tool box liner too.

3rd vacuum seal. I’ve got a screw driver, crescent, needle nose, and set of allens in a bag. Then a bunch of random electrical shite in a bag. If you have to use something, just reseal after.
