Doesn’t automatically make them low ceiling players. Those dudes are all late picks and contributing to a playoff team. If it were that easy to find 2nd round players that contribute then everyone in the league would draft “low ceiling players”.

Memphis to me is pretty much reaching their ceiling. At least were not close to reaching ours.

This is gonna be AD and Lillard all over again on this board huh

The Grizzlies being good is no fluke. Just because we have a higher “ceiling” doesn’t mean we’ll reach that. The Grizzlies are very well coached, and they play defense. Most importantly they are TOUGH. And they are the ones improving every year. They are learning how to win. Last year in the play in, they fell in a close game. This year they are gonna win two play ins. Im a Pelicans fan, but its hard not to like the Grizzlies because they are doing it right. And they have young players just like us. Morant, Allen, Bane, Tillman, Brooks, and Jackson are all young. They have two vets in Anderson and JV and a bunch of youngins. Respect them.

he is but if they want to be championship caliber he needs to improve his 3 and play much better defense

And so does Zion... their team is the youngest team to make the playoffs in the last 10 years. In the most important game of the year, Morant had 35,6,6 and made 5 threes. He made big baskets at the end of the game.

I have to think Zion is super unhappy right now.

They draft a lot of high floor low ceiling guys and we draft high ceiling guys. It’s not the difficult to see. They will remain mediocre.
Lol. Some of you guys are absolutely delusional.

They have guys just as young as our guys and are already contributing to a playoff team in the western conference. "Mediocre"

The idea that our young role players somehow have a higher ceiling than theirs is homer nonsense.

I need to see these young all stars you guys apparently see developing on our bench that makes our ceiling higher than theirs, because sorry, their roster absolutely SHITS on ours 3-12.

Are you kidding me right now? The 30th pick and 2nd rounders? They are lucky one of them is even in the nba, much less all three contributing in a major way.

They are drafting better than us, and developing players better than us. We have more talent than them, yet we are the team sitting on out asses right now while they are in the playoffs.

Well one thing we knew for sure going into the draft was trading for a future second and using the roster spot for Sindarius Thornwell wasn't adding any playoff contributors to the roster.

no I’m not, people loved Banes value as a late first player, Tillman was also high on people’s boards as a late get. These guys get drafted so low because of their age and because they don’t have Uber athleticism. Y’all are all weirdly melting right now. It’s kind of sad

We might have more talent but they have higher bb iq players.

The Pels need to make a push next year. Being bad the first two years is fine for growth and acquiring high picks.

We say this every year but the West is stacked. Insert the Pels and take out who in the West?

Nah he's cool. We're young.

Our guys will be ready to compete in a game like that in a few years...or something like that, according to the fanbase.

People say this in every league ever year, and yet there is always turnover in every conference in the playoffs.

But you are right in that next year is a make or break sort of year.

They have to win. They have to show progress. Or the titanic is approaching the iceberg

I don’t think you understand “low ceiling player”. Especially when talking about late 1sts/2nd round picks. Nobody will disagree about why they were picked where they were but they’ve developed them into contributing players. Considering how many of those picks bust out of the league or take 2-3yrs of development before they make an NBA playoff rotation says a lot about the Grizzlies.

nah I know at least right now he’s slightly annoyed with the fact both Ja and RJ are in the playoffs and he’s sitting at home again. It’s not a big deal tho if we improve the roster this summer

But the Pelicans have more "Potential" while sitting on their green lackadaisical lazy asses right now. Im so jealous of the Memphis organization. True bad asses.

I mean he might be. His Duke Buddies RJ and Cam are both solidly in the playoffs on teams that don’t usually make the playoffs.

Also his AAU buddy Morant is in the playoffs on a Memphis team that isn’t supposed to be that good either.

And Zion has massively outperformed all 3 of these players individually, yet the other 3 are playing for franchises that have made better player personnel and coaching decisions.

I do think people are kinda melting. I get the frustration but two bad years with Zion (does the first year even count?) doesn’t mean much. If Jax can be a starting C and NAW continues in an expanded role (basically swap roles with Bledsoe assuming he’s still with y’all next year) there’s a lot to look forward to.

The Grizzlies have shown the last decade that they know how to make a small market franchise competitive... The Pelicans have done no such thing.
