Vaccination was highly effective with overall estimated efficacy for documented infection of 92·8% (CI:[92·6, 93·0]); hospitalization 94·2% (CI:[93·6, 94·7]); severe illness 94·4% (CI:[93·6, 95·0]); and death 93·7% (CI:[92·5, 94·7]). Similarly, the overall estimated level of protection from prior SARS-CoV-2 infection for documented infection is 94·8% (CI:[94·4, 95·1]); hospitalization 94·1% (CI:[91·9, 95·7]); and severe illness 96·4% (CI:[92·5, 98·3]). Our results question the need to vaccinate previously-infected individuals.

Somebody is going to get a sternly worded letter from the accounting department at Pfizer.

Hope it pans out. I've already got my vaccination, then.

That wasn’t one of the choices given by King Biden.

I got the vaccine. Had the virus March of last year. Main reason I got the vaccine is because I have trips planned on the West Coast late this Summer and I have a feeling those states may require it, plus I’m tired of this mask crap. Anyway, both shots kicked my arse for 24 hours. Much worse immediate effects than the virus itself (shortness of breath was a problem for a week or two with the virus). But I suspect the severe reaction from the vaccine means my immune system was responding aggressively against any hint of the virus.

What other diseases do we vaccinate for after a person has had the disease?

I don't need a peer review. I already knew this.

I think this is obvious at this point. Good luck gaining entry in London this Summer with that bit of scientific logic though.

I had Covid first week of August. Blood checked about a week and a half ago. Still have antibodies.

You didn't even to have to get sick, just symptoms.

Those who had the same (even asymptomatic) for SARS 17 years ago have shown to be immune. It is actually better than getting a vaccination

And just another reason I will not run out and get the vaccine. I had Covid in august.......

This is not first study that has said I should still have protection. MIT had a similar result

And yet another reason I am not rushing to get the vaccine. Was exposed on august 10th, symptomatic on 8/13. So I should be in your same boat.
