Gumbo for a Large Crowd

Posted by wagon on 10/5/24 at 9:08 am
Throwing an engagement party for approximately 175 people . In an effort to reduce costs, I agreed to cook a chicken and sausage gumbo. We will have other food, so the idea is to have roughly coffee cup (8 oz.) servings.

I’m used to cooking a 5 gallon pot for the main course. Trying to figure out what I need for a crowd of this size. Going to make it about a month in advance and freeze because I have a couple of days when I am free.

Any help on measurements would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

FYI I have a five gallon pot to work with, so I fully expect to make multiple batches. Will likely make one large roux and do multiple rounds

The upside of Skenes being marginally or overwhelming better at the plate than anyone at the bottom half of the lineup is far outweighed by the risk of losing a top 3 pitcher in the country to some freak mishap in the batter’s box or on the base paths. He should not and will not see an at bat during the regular season.

re: Underrated play: Major Burns...

Based on Coach’s press conference, Burns messed up the coverage. He hustled to make a mistake at least not a touchdown.

re: Book should start last 5 games

frick it. I’ll roll with Book.

Not sure why anyone is surprised. The Republicans have turned pissing away momentum into an art.

How about this. Let’s have Republicans actually show a spine on some fricking issue. They have been folding on everything. It’s time for these spineless bastards to show their true colors or get voted out for people who actually answer to and for their constituency.
Also search “abortion videos” on google and another search engine like DuckDuckGo. It’s amazing how tech companies push certain narratives.
First of all, I truly don’t believe most people do not want Roe vs. Wade overturned. I think it’s close, but not some foregone conclusion.

This is a State vs. federal government issue. A state should have the right to determine when life begins. Furthermore, this woman’s right to choose is absolutely a bullshite argument, particularly when people are being forced to get a questionable and possibly ineffective vaccine to do so much as eat in a restaurant. We live in a constitutional republic. If a woman wants to abort a baby, she can go somewhere other than Texas.

Fundamentally, the “choice” is when that woman decides to frick without protection. In the case of race or incest, take the morning after pill, which I believe is given in those situations when treatment is sought.

Birth control is readily available. Time to stop pretending that it’s not anymore.
Now we know why the State Police were at the neighborhood in Prairieville
The only directly eligible feeder school for Catholic is Mercy. They are subject to the same attendance zone as the public schools.
Not sure exactly what the cut is, but I assume all these hosts are basically independent contractors whom, prior to COVID, got to keep a significant portion of the advertising dollars they brought in. Jordy, Moscona, and Ott are definitely the best at bringing in sponsors. The station seems to be asking them to take a lesser cut, which led to Jordy going on his own. Ott seems good being his degenerate self, probably while taking some action on the side. Moscona likely will jump ship evidenced by him dropping a long time sponsor of his to start up his own roofing company, using his air time to promote it for free.
I’ll add to the unrealistic expectations issue. The current format makes it exponentially more difficult to win a championship. To top it off, when they changed the park in Omaha and made the bat changes, it completely changed the way he had to recruit. He adapt to that pretty well. He’s been slower to adapt back to the recent bat changes. And I think he acknowledged this in the press conference.
Every single coach, player, and employee would do the same for a raise. If you don’t use leverage when you have it, you’re an idiot.
This press conference is nothing but a class act. He’s appreciative of the opportunity, acknowledged that he wasn’t able to coach to his potential the last few years, has pointed out the achievements of his players, and is making the decision for the betterment of the program. I have lots of respect for him.
If that’s the case, completely unacceptable
If a private business requires something, then you do it or don’t get hired, as it should be. My business is encouraging the COVID vaccine, but not requiring it. Some don’t want to, or refuse to get, the vaccine. This includes our office manager, who is essential to our office. Personally, I got it but I applaud and respect those who won’t.
I got the vaccine. Had the virus March of last year. Main reason I got the vaccine is because I have trips planned on the West Coast late this Summer and I have a feeling those states may require it, plus I’m tired of this mask crap. Anyway, both shots kicked my arse for 24 hours. Much worse immediate effects than the virus itself (shortness of breath was a problem for a week or two with the virus). But I suspect the severe reaction from the vaccine means my immune system was responding aggressively against any hint of the virus.
I will be submitting an FOIA request tomorrow or Monday at the latest. frick this shite.
Although I agree with the officer’s statements, his suspension likely is warranted. He almost certainly violated the department’s social media policy by posting in his uniform and in the patrol car.
Let the coaches decide. If it’s Johnson, I wish the best for Brennan. I truly respect him for waiting his turn and working to earn the job. If he loses out, he should transfer. Frankly, I think he’ll do very well. Let’s see what happens, but I respect the hell out of that young man.
