Good and bad experiences with quality at big box or even smaller local stores? Not looking for cheapest I can get, but I am not yet a certified OT baller.

Just looking to spend somewhere in the middle where the quality is good.

I've purchased a few things from Town and Country. I've been pleased. They are a little out of the way but worth the drive. Not a fancy store or anything but they carry mid priced quality furniture lines.

Do not buy anything from Ashley Furniture!

What area of the globe are you trying to purchase furniture?

Greater Baton Rouge area.

I had someone actually recommend Ashley’s the other day. Maybe they just got lucky with a few pieces. I have heard bad from others though too

Went to the American Factory Direct store in Madisonville last weekend. Bad experience, all the sales people are like sharks and would not leave us alone. Ended up finding the same exact bedroom set we wanted at a place called Rustic House for about $1500 less.

Anyone do internet furniture shopping? I've been checking a living room set at AFC Warehouse.

They just built one of these in Lafayette. Haven’t stopped though. I like dealing with Louis Mohana Furniture right south of Houma.

My story is in there somewhere. Much too long and infuriating to retell here.

After my horrendous ordeal with them, I went to Home Furniture and was treated like a King.

We bought our new living room furniture from La-Z-Boy. It’s real good quality and I like that they service their stuff.

I’ve bought too much furniture that wasn’t quality, couldnt get fixed, etc.

If you don’t mind driving, check into woodland furniture in Woodland MS.

I have a couple of chairs and a leather sofa from Wayfair. Pretty happy with all of it. As with any online shopping, read reviews.

I can’t recommend Doerr enough. They’re well-priced for the quality, which is great. I also like Nadeau for wood furniture.

Re: all the comments on avoiding Ashley... you definitely get what you pay for (which some people don’t mind because they change out pieces often or it’s going in an extra room or whatever).

If you do happen to find an Ashley piece you like, at least try to purchase it through a local store that carries their products instead of the corporate store.
