Read the 100s or readily available news sites that are reporting on the restoration of gas availability vs the area you'll be in and the date/time you'll be leaving.

Map out my trip and figure out which small towns (off of the highway) where you'll need to look for gas along the way (as mentioned earlier in this thread).

You'll be fine--go enjoy your vacation.

How has nobody posted the clear correct answer yet?

Fill up in Tenn, drive to Myrtle, get "stranded" there for a few extra days of vacation, drive back once the madness is over

It's bike week (Harley) down here. If you're on the south end of the Grand Strand (Surfside Beach to Litchfield) be prepared for massive amounts of traffic.

I'm in a Chevy Silverado 1500

What’s the driving range on the Silverado. It is less than 400 miles from S’ville to MB. If you can go that far on a tank of gas then fill up in TN & drive to MB. The crisis will be over early next week.

Regardless, find an alternate route home & avoid Memphis. What state is home?

I'd say it's about 350 miles on mine.

I was able to find four 10 gallon gas cans and filled those up for the trip so I should be good.

Are you from Louisiana or Arkansas? The drive home through Memphis makes me think Arkansas. Myrtle beach sucks. Drive to the panhandle of Florida for some nice beaches. Or drive to Charleston for better food. There is honestly no reason to go to Myrtle beach unless you golf or ride a motorcycle.

After you cross over the mountain into NC you will mostly be going downhill so maybe you’ll do better than 350. You must have a small gas tank or get less than 20 mpg on the highway.

It’s kind of chilly in NC tonight. Looking at the forecast for the weekend, highs in the low 70’s, lows in the 50’s. Good weather for walking on the beach, but not exactly swimming weather.

It was cool & rainy down east today too but it looks like a nice weekend coming up in the Carolinas.

Myrtle beach sucks.

Anything north of Atlantic Beach and south of Myrtle Beach is perfectly fine. Even most parts of Myrtle Beach proper are ok for a beach trip. I'd avoid the areas between 21st North and 17th South from Ocean Boulevard up to Kings Highway.

You better not use all the gas, I'm heading that way next week.
And I don't feel like carrying a damn gas can around.
