NO trip set end of may from Friday to Monday.
Heard great things about Bon Temps and Billy’s Boudin and Cracklins and wondering if worth renting a car to get out there.

The Outback on the Vermillion is worth it alone.

Lafayette is not really much of a tourist place in my experience, unless there's something specific going on. It's more of a bedroom community.
I am sure you can make it into a fun / interesting place to visit if you want to, but no more so than any number of other places in South Louisiana.

Just stay in Laffy and skip Nola.....it’s a lot easier to not get shot at the corner of Canal and Bourbon that way.....and you don’t have to worry about a mask.

Save yourself the time and money renting a car, and just go on a meat tour in NO.
Go to Cochon Butcher, Piece of Meat, and Tres Bon

Good, but I wouldn't drive two hours for it.

Well, white people shouldn’t be on the first 3 blocks of Bourbon regardless at any point of the day. Avoid those blocks and you’re generally ok.
If your goal is to party for a weekend, Nola is the best option in La.

Skip Laffy all together and eat at Spahrs on Hwy 90, get you a Bloody Mary to go, then go a little bit further down 90, get off on Hwy 24 and load up at Bougerious Meat Market in Thibodaux. They have everything you could possibly want from jerkey, boudin, hogs head cheese, etc. Turn around and head back to NOLA, save yourself about 5 hours.

If there's a local festival, yeah.
If you want to hit up the local music spots, yeah.
If you want an ACTUAL cajun meal or want to get some specialty meats and stuff, yeah.
Other than that, unless you want to work here, no. Job market is booming here though.
Also, if you want boudin, make the trek to acadia, st landry, or evangeline parish. Lafayette has no good boudin (outside of Johnsons).

The real Cajun delicacies you mention are well worth the trip to the Acadians area . New Orleans has good food but the Lafayette area is miles above when talking food .
