I wouldn’t go to either.

And I live in one of them.

nah.

About the only thing I'd recommend coming for would be food, but there's more than enough of that in New Orleans.

If you happen to be driving through, then definitely stop at the Scott exit and grab some boudin and cracklin from Don's or the Best Stop, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend making a dedicated trip to visit.

Also, if you want boudin, make the trek to acadia, st landry, or evangeline parish. Lafayette has no good boudin (outside of Johnsons).
Don't go to any of these parishes unless you want a $200 speeding ticket for going 6mph above the speed limit.Kartchner's, Billy's, Don's, and Best Stop are all top 10 and off the Scott exit so need to risk it by driving to these places.

I wouldn’t go out of my way to go to Lafayette unless there was something going on but I wouldn’t go to New Orleans either.

No, but it's worth living in if you want to live in South Louisiana (yes I call that living).

Cop killing on Evangeline thruway months ago. Made national news. Looks like it’ll come out today as a justified killing by the cop just FYI
I didn't even realize this went to trial. That's pretty stupid to begin with.

Bougerious Meat Market in Thibodaux

Great jerky, but if you're comparing them to the meat markets in Acadiana..

It's worth a day trip, stop at RIP Van Winkle gardens and Tabasco on the way, hit up Bon Temps for lunch, check out Vermillionville, hit up a specialty meats place (they're all great).

I guess the million other places in South LA with those exact same things (and likely better than Lafayette anyway) are useless then. Good to know.

Agree to disagree. I'm from the triparish area and have lived everywhere in the state: The best cajun "anything" food related comes from the triparish area. And 90% of anyone here would agree.

shite, I forgot about them. It's decent, yeah. Better than best stop and billies by miles.

I'd rather the jalapeno bread and meats from them over their boudin though. Johnsons is the best in lafayette. Period.

This is the stupidest post I've seen on this board in a long arse time.

Superette
T-Boys
Mels
Johnsons

They all blow every single tourist trap boudin place like best stop, dons, or billies out the fricking water.

Johnsons is no where close to the best boudin. Second tier at best.

Enjoy your time in New Orleans. You can get Best Stop shipped to you before your trip.

Lafayette is absolutely not worth renting a car and driving five hours round trip for. Not even close. It's fine for what it is, and it has great food for a city its size, but a tourist destination? Hard no.

Haha, you seem a little overly sensitive. Those are definitely some good places, just wouldn't drive the extra hour and risk getting pulled over by some morbidly obese small town cop.
