I mean, personally, I can't figure out how it ever possibly became an issue for anyone to begin with, but if it's not an "issue for the government" at this point, who do you think it should be one for?

I guess I'm not real clear as to what you're getting at.

Why on earth would sports issues be in front of a state legislature? It’s not a state government issue. At all.

Why can’t this issue be more appropriately handled at the local league and association level? The LHSAA exists to run the state’s prep sports.

This bill is nothing more than big government conservatives attempting to pander. I oppose all pandering by all parties, and I also oppose state officials wasting time on nonsense like youth sports.

Because the government runs the schools and hs sports are a major source of opportunities for under privileged children to get scholarships to college. Women’s sports create tons of opportunities for girls who otherwise wouldn’t have scholarships to college. Now, young men, under the guise of transgenderism, are taking those opportunities away from them. Transgenders in sports is nothing but thinly veiled misogyny.

what's worse is how Hilferty and Freiberg are working against state R leges trying to outlaw the critical race theory junk.

But JBE and his little taintlicking toady Schexnayder are doing what they can to go against Ted James and the Rs.

Schexnaider is the biggest problem here. Hilferty and Freiberg are worthless shite bags. But Schexneyder is the worst speaker we've had, possibly ever.

"I can't figure why people think this is an issue for the government."

This is a bizarre statement. The vast majority of students in La. attend public, i.e., government schools. Government, at some level, IS going to make this decision. There is simply no getting around that.

In your mind it should be on the agenda for the state legislature? Over a nonexistent political wedge issue?

Its blatant pandering over an "issue" that doesn't even require a solution.

This would just say, the people of the state have already spoken, there's nothing you need to worry about "handling" with regard to this. It's settled, move on. I don't know how that equates to "bigger government" in your mind, especially with regard to addressing public entities.

Is there an element of "pandering" here? Sure, probably. The people you see as pandering aren't the ones who created this as an issue, though.

Voting against the bill were Reps. Ken Brass, D-Vacherie; Aimee Freeman, D-New Orleans; Barbara Freiberg, R-Baton Rouge; Stephanie Hilferty, R-New Orleans; Patrick Jefferson, D-Homer; and Tammy Phelps, D-Shreveport.

Remember these names come re-election time.

It's funny considering that the Critical race theory bill's sponsor, Ray Garofalo, was one of the few republicans that voted for Clay Shexnayder to be speaker and Clay got his speakership role because JBE got the democrats behind him.

And Ray is getting no help from Clay and even threats to be kicked out of his chairman role after Ray voted for him to be Speaker.

Ray is coming to the understanding that eventually the devil will come to collect his debt on the deal you made with him.

The government deciding who competes in what sport is certainly "big government". It isn't necessary. This is not an "issue" that needs solving.

Unless of course, you profit from pandering over meaningless wedge issues and want to make sure you keep getting that per diem in the legislature.

Why is it always transgendered boys that want to compete against biological girls? It's NEVER the other way around. When transgendered girls start competing and dominating against biological boys, then I'll support this.

It happened in track at the State meet a couple years ago. A Teurlings Catholic sophomore, who won state in the mile the prior year, was beaten by a 'transgender' who couldn't run with the boys so he jumped into the girls' side. He/she was from some magnet school around Shreveport area, can't remember name of school ? Just b/c you and Amedee don't know jack shite doesn't mean it's not going on, and will continue to go on in bigger numbers. It's pathetic.
