Because it would be like LSU-Eunice or LSU-Shreveport calling itself LSU.
There is no “University of Louisiana.” It’s the University of Louisiana System and the school in Lafayette is the “University of Louisiana at Lafayette.” Call it “Louisiana-Lafayette”, call it “ULL”, but it’s not “Louisiana” or “UL”. Thank you.

This is the right answer. ULM has the same right to call themselves UL as ULL

I read this ranking as the old "good news is they bring back most everybody from last year ... bad news is they bring back most everybody from last year ..."
Posted on 5/4/21 at 1:43 pm to dallastiger55
What about Southeast La? Why haven't they taken the ULH moniker? Or the other school, what is it, Northwestern State of La? I get them confused with Northwestern. I'm not familiar with these LA schools, so, I just asking out of curiosity.

ULM has conceded that fight. You should too.

There's no "LSU." Your diploma says "Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College." That would be like you marketing yourself as LSU A&M since that is your full name. But none of this matters. I always thought the name thing was petty on both sides. If a school wants to athletically brand itself they way they want, so be it. In no way does it affect LSU.
As for the preseason rankings, that's what they are. We aren't even in the summer yet, and there's 3 pages of people freaking out about this.
As a Cajuns fan, it's nice to be in the national spotlight for once in football. But I'm also a realist to know that it will be extremely hard to maintain a ranking like this all season long, especially if our opening game is in Austin, Texas.

All I was saying is that I don't think they beat LSU last season even with the terrible defense that LSU played all of last season because at some point the difference in talent takes over for LSU during the game.
Well that depends. Are we talking about the LSU team that showed up to Florida or the LSU team that showed up to Auburn? The LSU team that showed up to Auburn might've lost to Acadiana High with the lack of effort they showed that day. I've never seen an LSU team quit at halftime like that.

If we take care of business we have a chance to win the Natty next year. It all depends how much the Oline improves by protecting our "QBS" ,and if we can run the ball out of spread formations.

Not to mention he couldn't even spell Lafayette correctly.

I see no issue with where they have the Cajuns ranked as they return a lot of talent from last years squad but I definitely think they have LSU way to low.
How has this evolved over the last few years? (Most of us know the answer to that)
LSU with 18 Starters back, a solid # 6 in the SEC and an even more solid #2 in Luzianner. (I be from here Bitch and I let's evabody knows it befoe eva kickoff in Tiga Stadiums)
The Tigers have 18 starters back and should produce a minimum of 10 wins, amirite there boys? 10 wins is the bottom level of the totem pole.
IF there is any further dysfunction seen in the program from Baton Rouge Woke Institute of Southeast Louisiana, shrimp heads will be flyin into the trash receptacle without being wrapped in newspaper first!
Keep your eyes on the Ramblin Acadians and their HC, because "Miracle Worker" Napier is hangin around and ready to make the move down I-10.
Ed O sycophants and program MAMM's (Mediocrity Accepting Mental Moron's) should be on high alert!

this is just clickbait. Don't bite.
All polls are irrelevant, preseason polls even more irrelevant, and post-spring polls even more than that.
Waste of time and energy.
Watch the games in the fall -- then we'll all know.

There’s gonna be a lot of teams in for a post Covid year reality check. Cajuns being one of them.

They also have us 6 spots ahead of Texas, though I'd find it tough to believe we're going to be the Vegas favorite at Austin Week 1.
Grain of salt.
I didn’t realize Texas was known as UCLA and Austin was in Los Angeles

Yep, the year of the China flu pandemic created opportunities for the programs playing a full season to be seen on TV. It was nice and probably gave folks a look at teams they wouldn't have seen before. We took advantage of that and no doubt played a major part in getting us ranked. That and taking care of biz on the field. Something the Tigas didn't do very well, coming off a natty title. Had to be difficult.
If we leave Austin the first game of the season with a W, it changes perspectives for the skeptics out there. So many from/in refineryville! If we win out after that, we will likely stay ranked. It's a big IF, but we haven't been here before and it's kinda nice to be where we are.
Would love to play a head to head at a neutral site this season, but the system is too rigged for something like that to ever occur. Must be in BR with SEC refs, like it's "supposed to be". It's "systematic".
If I were a Tiger fan, and I'm not, I would be more worried about all the sexual assault allegations, lawsuits and the horrible treatment of female students/athletes than worry about the little ole Ragin Cajun football program.

LOL, haven't they scored like 6 points in their entire history against LSU?
ETA: ULL has scored 25 total points in 22 games against LSU all-time. They have scored 6 points against LSU since 1925
The Ramblin Acadians would have put up at least 50 on the LSU Defense last season. We're looking at a 55-50 game.
Who know what happen in 2021.
Historical scores don't mean jack shite currently.
Something is absolutely not right somewhere when USL is ranked higher and receives more national attention than LSU..........
