Biggest industries by revenue:
-Global Commercial Real Estate
-Global Automobile Sales
-Global Automobile Manufacturing
-Global Direct General Insurance Carriers
-Global Commercial Banks
-Global Oil & Gas Exploration & Production
-Global Auto Parts & Accessories Manufacturing
-Global Tourism
Look at all of that fake, fear based demand! Governments are telling us that O&G and Autos are going to melt the planet yet here we are.

An anti-cap conspiracist like thine could easily create some bad faith motives and maneuvering for each industry, especially if he didn’t like them.

Why are you talking about Thine? You are the one who suggested capitalism was based on fear and fake problems. Perhaps there are a few examples of that in capitalism insomuch as there are examples of everything in capitalism, but the system is largely consumer need based.
Governments however.... They deal almost exclusively in fear. Racism, terrorism, climate apocalypse, cops, white people, etc...

I did not.

Pfizer received zero government money for their vaccine development. Not sure why people keep saying they did. And they also spent a boatload of their own money developing it. The CEO told his team not to even worry about budget. Anything they wanted they got.
However, Moderna did receive Warp Speed money. This makes sense because Moderna is a young company without nearly the capital as the pharma giants.
In the end, though, both Pfizer and Moderna were using research done at U of Penn back in 2005. Those Penn researchers licensed their patent to Moderna and BioNTech (who Pfizer teamed up with). I am not sure if the Penn researchers used government grants or not (probably did).

Pfizer said it plans to file for full approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) at the end of this month. The company also said it expects to apply for emergency use authorization for a booster shot that could protect against COVID-19 variants during the second half of July.
The New York Times reported Monday the FDA is poised to authorize Pfizer and BioNTech's coronavirus vaccine for adolescents ages 12-15 by early next week. And the company said it expects to have definitive trial results and plans to apply for authorization in September to use the vaccine in children between 2-5 years of age and 5-11 years of age.
Also, have to expand the market
We will see how many are down with this (on both "sides")

This is basically an anti-capitalist rant.

How people don't see the connection between this growing pharmaceutical-gov complex and our old pal the MIC, shocks me.
People in power will do whatever it takes to retain power and get money. People in positions like this aren't suddenly going to get a conscience.

No, but it would be interesting to see full disclosure from all our congressional critters to see how many cashed in and then cashed out on Operation Warp Speed.

Saying that someone else posted an anti-capitalist rant is not me saying capitalism is based on fear and manipulation.
Wouldn't you agree that this:
Sounds like something an anti-capitalist would say as an indictment of capitalism??

If Americans had any sense and will, they'd tar/feather every a-hole that in 2020 uttered the words "we're all in this together."
frick the Left.

Member the good ole days in 2019 when leftists had spent 20 years telling us how evil big pharma is and that they only cared about profits.
How quickly they shift to “trust big pharma without question lest you are not a good American!”

If the gov't paid for the development, production and administration of the vaccine, should the company get all of the profits, or should us taxpayers that funded the entire thing get them?

Cool, how much do I get since my tax dollars financed development?

Cool story - Google's seed capital came from US taxpayers. So Pfizer is just the latest to reap billions (in Google's case trillions) from risks/capital the taxpayer made.

First, that’s not very much in the grand scheme of pharmaceutical profits.
Second, why is this a bad thing? They developed one of the most effective vaccines in history 4x faster than had ever been done before. Should they not profit off their labor? Is this not what makes capitalism great? We incentivize ingenuity and greatness.

Surely you can connect the dots? Right?
And weren't their development costs covered by the taxpayer?

Government aid went almost entirely towards distribution, not production. The best thing the government did was remove federal regulations and get the frick out of the way.
Turns out, smart people with strong incentives can do really cool shite when the government doesn’t get in their way.

quote:Correct. As I've said for years, there are few real conservatives on this board, just people who hate the personification of the left. Handouts like TOPS are vociferously supported. Profits of companies who came up with a product in record time, poo-pooed.
