On Thursday morning, asked how he expects Republicans will do in the 2022 midterm elections, Trump told Maria Bartiromo that he thinks they’ll do well but that a leadership change is in order. “Mitch McConnell has not done a great job, I think they should change Mitch McConnell.”

That diss apparently didn’t sit well with McConnell, who did his own little interview later in the day, in which he told Fox News, of Trump’s comments: “We’re looking to the future, not the past. And if you want to see the future of the Republican Party, watch Tim Scott’s response to President [Joe] Biden last night. He’s the future. That’s where we’re headed. We’re not preoccupied with the past, but looking forward.”

Vanity Fair taking great joy in turtle 'trading in' Trump for Tim Scott.

Now we know the GOPe wants Tim Scott and probably Haley as VP.

Mitch McConnell is the fricking perfect spokesman for the Republican Party. Him and the Tim Scotts of the world are what has driven people away from that party. And they’ll continue to drive people away from the Republican Party as long as they’re in control.

Nobody gets excited for Tim Scott.

The fact that Mitch even says it is incredibly stupid. It’s almost like he is pitting Scott against Trump. From my understanding, Scott and Trump have always aligned pretty well.

The future of the R party is simply whoever grows a backbone and fights for their constituents.

IMO this thing is a planned fallout between Trump and Turtle to give Scott more exposure. Seems like a nice play.

I for one love it when pieces of shite who have been in politics for decades, tell you not to look to the past...

Ruling class wants you to pretend like they havent been the ones fricking shite up for YEARS. Because somehow, you should just assume they are the ones to fix it.

Term limits or bust

Agreed. Turtle caused unnecessary friction in division. I would bet Neocon Nikki was slated to give the R response and it was a big Turtle deal to change out to Tim Scott. So Turtle thinks everyone better like Tim Scott...

Or is Turtle playing his usual slight of hand game and really backs someone else and Tim Scott is a ruse?

I don't trust turtle as far as I could throw him.

Translation:

Republicans need a presidential candidate who will work with Democrats in managing the decline of the United States, won't put out mean tweets and most importantly won't interfere with the swamp's bidness.

75% of the Republican base despises RINOs almost as much as Dems. Mitch already has one foot out the door - the voter base doesn't give a shite what he thinks.

The MAGA movement is what it's all about now and Mitch can't handle it.

Wrong, it's the GOPs weak attempt to pander to black voters.

Tim Scott gave a great speech, but he's not the future.
