They also need to synchronize the traffic lights all the way down Airline, like they should have done 20 years ago.

A few of you guys need to quit your gigs and go into the food truck biz. one for tacos. One for burgers, etc. One for all day breakfast foods and a dessert/sweets truck. Y'all would slay greenbacks.

Why do you think they are for $15 minimum wage. Because it destroys small business and continues to build their automated army

Where to trucks stop for breaks now? It's not the high desert. There's gas stations and truck stops all over the state.

And East Baton Rouge taxpayers are footing a big part of bill to widen Airline Highway because the state has neglected it for so long. They voted on it a while back.

this part of your question really confuses me. Why would they need to stop that close to the facility?

Spoken like a trucker I don’t think people realize what a clusterfrick that place is going to cause on the area. That place will be 3 wide and 10 deep all day long. And that area has terrible infrastructure for trucks. They seriously need to look into building some parking adjacent to the place (don’t know if feasible) or bite the fricking bullet and allow trucks to take their breaks on the property.

I’ve been turned away from an Amazon DC for being around 50m early lol. “Come back within 30m of your appointment”. Unless they figure out how to speed up getting checked in I say good luck with that shite show.

Yeah looks like Firestone is going to stay open. I guess it was owned separately.
If so that little shop has made it through the darkness and they’re about to make a gem mint.

Robots won’t show up hung over until they figure out how to use that AI drug generator from Transmetropolitan.

They could feasibly buy out most of the shopping centers across Florline for that purpose.

The Sam’s building has been vacant for a few years. Most of the strip mall next to it is dead except for the giant thrift store. The restaurants along the service road have been demolished for years, etc.

Yeah that doesn't make any sense. I guess we really have to reach to be negative about this.

Carquest, Orion, Cresent Crown, Holmes, etc are all nearby and get a lot of truck traffic. Not to mention all of the smaller DC's along Choctaw and Wooddale. Amazon will get more obviously but it's not as if the area can't handle big rigs. If anything, the surrounding infrastructure is better than the rest of Baton Rouge.

If you think it's a big problem, maybe you should open up a Love's Travel Stop in one of the available outparcels. You know there will be new fast food places and gas stations popping up with all of those workers going in and out.

I think it's been purchased by a developer related to the Amazon project. No idea what they are doing with it. I assumed it would be some kind of supporting facility eventually.

I doubt it's going back to being retail.

In general, a lot of the real estate ringing Cortana is either empty or dying.

The only place arguably thriving is Walmart and I bet they have the most loss prevention problems in the parish.

I’m hoping a Whataburger opens next to the Cane’s after that other thread.

The only retail will be right up along Florida and the Lowe’s/Walmart. Everything else is going to be flex space or Amazon. And that little Firestone place apparently.

It’s going to take some action along those lines for sure. It’s hard to find parking anywhere past 5pm much less a BR proper that has nada. And in anticipation of the logical question “why not just go further to look for some?” drivers are going to be running out of their daily hours of service at that place in droves.
